09.01.2022 UPDATED : TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENTS FOR NEUROSURGERY Given the relaxation of restrictions around the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Ball has recommenced face-to-face consultations. Telehealth Consultations are still available and, in some cases, may be most appropriate.... Please contact us regarding booking appointments by phone 02 9438 3785, email [email protected] or through our website www.spinesurgeon.sydney. ORIGINAL POST Given the current COVID-19 crisis, Dr Ball is moving to remote telehealth consultations for most patient appointments. Patients can register at https://spinesurgeon.sydney/telehealth WHAT IS TELEHEALTH ? Telehealth is the provision of healthcare remotely by means of telecommunications technology. Practically, it means the doctor and patient are not in the same room but communicating using technology. WHAT IF I NEED TO SEE DR BALL IN PERSON? Many issues can be assessed and prioritised over telehealth. Most imaging studies are available online and can be reviewed. If clinical exam is required after telehealth assessment, a face-to-face appointment can be arranged, according to urgency. HOW DO WE DO TELEHEALTH ? Options for remote telehealth consultations include telephone call or video call (Skype, Facetime, Zoom).
04.01.2022 "The fact I could move my toes, he said, I'll walk again'." Recognising incomplete and discomplete injuries and the potential for functional recovery, rather than nihilism, can lead to better outcomes in SCI.
01.01.2022 "Its important not to say that because surgery is not right for all back pain .... no surgery for any back pain". This story was filmed pre-COVID, so an abridged version was aired on ABC 7:30 last night, light on some details, and arguably, biased against surgery. "In the correctly chosen patient, with appropriate pathology, you can have very good outcomes from spinal fusion".
