23.01.2022 One of the most special experiences for parents-to-be is seeing the image of their baby via ultrasound for the first time. So to mark Father's Day, we asked a dad-to-be to share his "first time" experience with us. "How would I describe the moment I got to see my baby via ultrasound for the first time? It was pretty surreal, to be honest. I've always wanted to be a dad so seeing the heartbeat and outline of my baby's little body for the first time was the most perfect thing.... It sounds cliche and I'm almost rolling my eyes as I write this, but it was honestly like time stopped for a second. Sitting there, hand-in-hand with my wife, watching this amazing little life form move and rotate was the most special thing ever. The sonographer said the baby was more active when I came into the room, hopefully that's a sign of things to come because I can't wait to meet my little playmate!" Thanks for sharing, Darcy! We're pretty sure you're going to make a wonderful dad and we love being part of these special moments. From everyone at Dr Jones & Partners, happy Father's Day to all the dads, dads-to-be and father figures out there.

17.01.2022 Dr Jones & Partners can confirm that a patient who attended our Calvary Adelaide Hospital clinic on 16/11/20 for an MRI scan has since tested positive for COVID-19. All patients are screened on booking and entry to our clinics. In this case the patient did not have any symptoms or temperature at the time of their appointment, but developed symptoms later on and subsequently tested positive. We have worked closely with SA Health and Calvary Adelaide Hospital to ensure that all... patients and staff members who may have been impacted are identified and contacted with further instruction. The clinic was closed temporarily for cleaning to ensure the safety of staff and patients and has now reopened. We have been adhering to strict hygiene and social distancing policies and believe risk to patients and staff to be minimal. Patients attending Calvary Adelaide on Monday or Tuesday who are at risk will have been contacted by SA Health as part of the contact tracing process. 13.01.2022 Digital 3D mammography allows the radiologist to see your breast slice by slice, which can make it easier to detect breast lesions and diagnose cancer earlier, regardless of your breast density. In this image, you can see the increased detail in the 3D mammogram compared to the regular 2D mammogram. With breast cancer affecting 1 in 8 women in Australia and 1 in 651 men, early breast cancer detection has never been more important. Mammograms are key to detecting early brea...st cancer, as well as benign disease. We are pleased to announce that patients in Alice Springs now have access to a state-of-the-art digital mammography unit. #mammography #breastimaging

06.01.2022 What's the difference between working with humans and animals? Not much! According to Dr Jones & Partners CT technician Natarsha Lamerichs.... Tarsh is a highly skilled, highly experienced CT tech who works part time with us at Dr Jones & Partners, and part time operating the CT scanner at Southern Animal Hospital. Natarsha loves the mix of working with humans and animals, and enjoys lots of pats and cuddles with our four-legged friends who she says are usually very happy to see her, even the very sick ones. Koalas, kangaroos, wombats, rabbits, a lizard and her own pet guinea pig are amongst some of the critters that Natarsha has scanned. When asked what’s the difference between working with humans and animals Natarsha responded, Anatomy wise I was quite surprised how similar humans and animals are, they are just smaller most of the time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vmAJhgkLno&feature=youtu.be

03.01.2022 Mary suffers from Osteoporosis, and up until now she was required to travel from her home in Port Augusta to Adelaide every 12-months for her bone density scan. When we told her we had newly installed a bone densitometry scanner in Port Augusta she was thrilled and said, "I think it's great that regional areas receive this technology and keep up to date providing more services for country patients. It's good for Port Augusta! A bone density test tells you if you have normal... bone density, low bone density (osteopenia), or osteoporosis. The lower your bone density, the greater your risk of breaking a bone. The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends that all women over 65 or of postmenopausal age with risk factors, as well as men over 70 talk to their GP about undergoing a bone density test to diagnose osteoporosis. We are so pleased to now be able provide this service to the Port Augusta community and surrounds. For information on our Port Augusta clinic visit https://drjones.com.au/port-augusta-hospital/

02.01.2022 Meet Zoe. Zoe lives in Barmera and her mum drives her to Adelaide for her MRI scans. Zoe is pretty brave but like everyone she was nervous about having her first scan. That was until Zoe met Nigel. That was 5 years ago when Zoe was 9 years old. Nigel had such an impact on Zoe that when her mum rings to make the appointment they request Nigel’s attendance. Our staff always oblige and make sure Nigel is rostered wherever Zoe’s appointment is.... Nigel looks forward to catching up with Zoe and hearing about her latest adventures with her siblings. We love hearing stories like this from our clinics. Well done Nigel on exhibiting such an exceptional level of care for your patients.
