25.01.2022 I RUN FOR ME..it sounds kinda crazy but the last two fridays I have run a half marathon after work.. on my own, with my thoughts ...IN MY FLOW. Here in Australia we can’t go out and dance so I figure running for a few hours listening to music is a good substitute

21.01.2022 This athlete has a painful shoulder.. can you determine WHICH IS THE PAINFUL SHOULDER? What tells you which is the painful shoulder? There is much debate upon the relevance of SCAPULA DYSKINESIA in shoulder pain. In my practice as a sports physiotherapist I always consider my practice based upon: 1. What is the EVIDENCE. 2. What is my EXPERIENCE. 3. What is the patient’s EXPECTATION?... During my PhD I investigated the impact of musculoskeletal asymmetry on the development progression and recurrence of shoulder pain... and determined that asymmetry of force producing musculature will be compensated elsewhere in the kinetic chain... my question to you.. I spent most of 2020 physically distanced from everything that gets me out of bed in the morning my why: the man I love, my family and elite sport. But in the craziness of it all I was able to see possibility! I am proud that I embraced my power of belief and strived to help others stay connected to their best version of themselves and their best performance. Through the podcast I connected with people from all around the globe and was able to share their journey of performance. 15.01.2022 After 20 years experience in the world of high performance sport.. and COVID taking away most of high performance in 2020.. I have had time to reflect and challenge what I do and how I do it for optimal results for my athletes. Sometimes as a sports physiotherapist we see the athlete do the rehabilitation work, follow through but still don’t return to the same performance level following injury ... that is we can RESTORE TISSUE CAPACITY but unless the athlete truly BELIEVES THEY HAVE THE TISSUE CAPACITY.. capacity or not the athlete won’t reach the same level of performance.. granted there are many factors involved but as the sports medicine team and coaching staff our communication, education and planning are pivotal in an athletes performance after injury...

12.01.2022 I have been asking myself who am I? .. if there is no elite sport (as there may not be on a global scale for a bit). There is not much in life I am scared of, but today I realised that I have been scared of my own greatness.. but not anymore!!! I have given myself permission to fly!!! My mission is to translate my skills and knowledge and experience of 20 years in sport to the general high performing population. For two decades I have championed athletes, the fastest peop...le on land and in the water to be their best.. let me champion you. I identify your strengths and stretches, the strategies you use and guide you to discover what’s working and what’s not, identify and remove barriers and connect you with the best version of yourself. I have recently questioned why we idolise sports stars.. firstly they are a proven and measured example of excellence but most importantly they consistently demonstrate the attributes most of us would like to see in ourselves; discipline, integrity, determination, resilience but most importantly self belief! 12.01.2022 There is never a direct line from where you want to go and where you are now. In so many cases working with elite athletes, I have learnt to go forwards you need to step sideways.. redefine the route. #reset #reframe #rebuild. This path is not always clear and often defined only by a series of movements dysfunctions and relative weakness rather than a true distinct pathology. Never be afraid to reframe and rebuild.

We all have the power to choose our thoughts, in every moment... we each have the capacity to THINK LIKE A CHAMPION.. you just have to choose it...

10.01.2022 I have found that most of the magic of life.. happens outside the comfort zone! Our comfort zone is what we have already experienced, it’s where our torch already shines, to have a different experience or be bigger or better we need to expand our beam, look beyond where we have already been. It is human nature to feel as aspect of fear.. but if you want it to be different I challenge you to feel the fear and do it anyway!

DENISE BOYD is a living legend of Australian athletics... achieving what very few Australian athletes have been able to achieve in athletics since..competing in a time when you competed for the fear of losing, now a mother of another Australian Olympian and coach. CLARITY = clearness or lucidity as to perception or understanding; freedom from indistinctness or ambiguity. Clarity of purpose, mission and ultimate vision is essential to ultimate performance. 10.01.2022 Sometimes the quickest most efficient way forward is to stop and truly take a diagnostic look at what’s working and what’s not.. to find that dysfunctional movement or activation pattern. I can constantly amazed at the human body’s capacity to adapt and find a way, find a strategy to create movement in a resourceful or unresourceful way. In elite athletes I find they have increased resources ( strength, mobility, power or even grit) to create unresourceful movement.. as their team we need to be able to help them create resourceful and functional movement....

10.01.2022 Anyone who works in the world of sport understands the highs and lows... the road from PAIN to PERFORMANCE can long and lonely. It is imperative we can effectively communicate and support our athletes so they can acknowledge and appreciate the small wins.. it is the small wins, those small steps each day that take us from PAIN to PERFORMANCE.... it is the same journey

09.01.2022 I work with elite sprinters to connect with their ultimate performance.. whether the journey starts from a place of pain or injury or just struggling to reach that performance goal or benchmark ATHLETE AWARENESS Is key!!! What do I mean by that... the athlete needs to be aware of their body, their mindset and the actions they are taking which impact performance. I often find an athlete in pain is unwilling to take responsibility for their pain or progress. But when an ath...lete becomes aware of how they can influence their pain or performance progress is accelerated. So often it is only the smallest movement or change that is that lightbulb moment. As a physiotherapist I find this can be just the smallest cue when performing an exercise, which makes a previously painful and fearful movement pain free. How do you create athlete awareness? Vision board Writingjournaling is an amazing way to reflect and connect with self, blog or start that book.. Readinglearning is the fastest way from where you are now to where you want to be. Growth is a core human need of the soul. ExercisingStay committed to a routine..Training is an easy way to improve our mood and mindset exercise is medicine Stretching- stretching improves blood flow to joints and can reduce joint pain move it or lose it. Also important to check in with physical self.. Business or self development you might not have a business, but we have to be improving our brand or ourselves . There are no safe jobs anymore. Be willling to explore new avenues Family Timephones off and being curious and open with partner and or kids. It’s important for everyone’s thoughts to be heard.. Connect and communicate with more than one loved one that does not live with you.. connection is one of our core human needs.. Know that the world around us is changing hourly. We need to be able to adapt and be flexible with our beliefs, thoughts and expectations.. Flexibility gives you certainty in a changing world. Success right now is doing whatever we can to make sure our mindset and overall wellbeing managed so that we are ready for what’s next.. I would love your thoughts on this list. What would you add?

I have known Sophia for a very long time and it has been so amazing to see her evolve as a dancer,actress and model. Most of you will know Sophia as the cherry ripe girl, or the face of David Jones or L’Oreal...But I know Sophia as the girl from Noosa who when really found her place to belong blossomed into the amazing entertainer and dancer she is today. Sophia’s powerful story is about owning your identity, owning your story to step into your power. Sophia grew up not knowing or seeing anyone they looked like her.. but after travelling to New York to dance, she found her place to belong. Sophia kindly shares her darkest moments and what she drew on to bring her back.

07.01.2022 WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE CHALLENGE or COMFORT? I have just chosen the challenge or a 50km trail run... In choosing challenge, I can be certain in an uncertain world. It is crazy but true... how we show up in one area of our life is how we show up everywhere... Apparently the strategies I choose and how I choose to show up labels me a hard charger .. How do you show up?

07.01.2022 Our STANDARDS are our non-negotiables, the must dos in our lives... Standards are the rules of engagement we set in our own lives. We are 100% responsible for the standards we set and 100% accountable for maintaining those standards. High performers set high standards and work to maintain them to achieve their desired goals... if your standards of self are too low, that is to play a small game you cannot achieve goals at the highest level. My question to you is WHAT ARE YOUR STANDARDS?

07.01.2022 Psychological readiness to return to sport has received increasing focus in the physiotherapy world, particularly after ACL injury. Working with elite sprinters hamstring injury can be one of the most debilitating injuries.. for some never returning to peak performance. We now have great ways to measure physical readiness and benchmarks to guide the return to sport process. My experience however it that many athletes though physically ready (cleared to run full out) often lack confidence to train full out, run in fear of reinjury. In many cases I see this result in a change in running mechanics.. I am about to begin a project with La Trobe University investigating Pyschological Readiness to Return to Sport after hamstring injury.. I would appreciate your thoughts on this topic...

01.01.2022 I work with sprinters from around the globe and consistently find that there is often not a distinct isolated structural or tissue pathological diagnosis but rather a combination of movement dysfunctions and relative muscle imbalance. That is to FIND THE WEAK LINK in the KINETIC CHAIN... in so many cases athletes present to me with a long standing injury or pain and the primary dysfunction is actually in the opposite side and not clearly related to the site of pain. Bu...t that fact is that: when we push our bodies to the limit, to squeeze out the last possible piece of performance it is the weakest link that shows up first.. The pain that’s just the warning sign .. overload is occurring but it doesn’t mean pathological change has occurred in the structure that will show up on a scan!
