13.01.2022 8 Mental Health tips during the Coronavirus pandemic from UNICEF counsellors, my experience as a Psychiatrist and scientific evidence. Start with even implementing one of these : 1. Routine . Plan out your day in advance and stick to it (in a diary or phone). Have regular sleep, wake, healthy diet and self care. 2. Exercise . Go out for a walk/run atleast 30-60 mins a day in nature. Even 10mins walk in nature research shows is good for mental health. Body weight stren...gth exercises using free apps like 7M workout Johnson are helpful. You can try yoga and stretching also. 3. Meditate . Do atleast 5-30 mins meditation daily at a regular time and place. See below some links of my guided meditations. You can use free apps such as Smiling Mind or Insight Timer. Mindfulness or Loving Kindness meditation is particularly helpful. 4. Journal . Write down your worries end of the day and how your would respond to them in a mature and compassionate way. Keep a Gratitude Journal (write 3 things daily you are grateful for in others and yourself. 5. Socialise . Stay Connected with family and friends via video/audio/group chats on FaceTime/WhatsApp/Skype, check up on others, open up and ask others about their feelings. Help others with groceries and offer a listening ear or support. 6. Hobbies . Do your hobbies and pleasurable activity and schedule them in your plan (music, read, movies, games, paint, art, bath). 7. Self compassion . Be aware of your critical voice and encourage a compassionate voice. Talk to yourself in a compassionate way and write compliments for your self. Be your own best friend. 8. Courage . Write down things you need to do, fear and have been procrastinating on and work through them progressively. https://www.acnem.org/webinar/Mental-Health_Dr-Karan-Sinha (15 min meditation at 30-45min in video) https://youtu.be/Mcv7ZrABPbQ (5min meditation at 13-18min in video)

10.01.2022 R.I.P. Sushant Singh Rajput, a wonderful actor gone too soon You were truly an inspiration to me an many others. Know that you are loved and accepted always for who you are . If any one is suicidal or suffering from mental illness please ring Lifeline 131114 or Beyond Blue 1300224636 or feel free to contact me as I work as a Psychiatrist. Here is some general evidence based ways to to deal with depression and anxiety: 1. Exercise (walk atleast 10min a day or a 7min HIIT b...ody exercise app such as free Johnson and Johnson 7M workout) 2. Meditation (try a free app such as Smiling Mind or guided meditations on Dr Karan Sinha 3. Journaling your thoughts (write your negative and then positive thoughts talking to yourself as a friend). 4. If nothing helps I would suggest see a psychology or psychiatrist and try antidepressants as they are quite effective with anxiety and depression and do not have many long term side effects and pretty safe. #sushantsinghrajput #ssr #mentalhealth #suicide See more

07.01.2022 Our prayers and wishes of peace, love and strength are with the American people, as riots increase alarmingly across USA, along with COVID deaths which is disproportionately affecting black African-American people. Frustration of racial discrimination and mismanagement of COVID is palpable and threatens to destabilise one of the most powerful countries in the world. Clearly there needs to be a systemic change in the justice and political system. At the heart of the issue is ...a society that is steeped in capitalism, greed and self-centredness which is represented by the President. When power of love and selflessness overcomes the love of power and selfishness, only then can there be peace on this Earth. May there be peace, peace, peace There needs to be a comprehensive national independent review panel to address racial discrimination in police justice system and in the wider community in USA. 1. All 4 police officers involved in George Floyd’s deaths must be prosecuted for murder. 2. There needs to be transparency and harsher penalties on deaths of black people within police custody with proper prosecution. 3. There must be proactive advocating for more black police officers. 4. There should be a nationally funded media campaign to end systemic racism, promoting positive role models of black people. 5. More funding for healthcare, housing and jobs for black people so they don’t have to resort to crime. #icantbreath #usariots #georgefloyd #blacklivesmatter
