To me It’s our version of the Yin and Yang. It's an ancient Taoist philosophy that says the universe is composed of competing and complementary forces like, dark and light, the sun and the moon, good and evil. In our context, the free minded creative and the realistic business world. One doesn’t work without the other so they work collaboratively to create a sense of balance and then transform into ONE whole being. How does that definition translate to the work you do? Balance is key. Bruce Lee saw the yin yang not as opposites, but as complementary components. Nothing is so permanent as to never change I believe that this is our approach whenever we collaborate with anyone. Our aim is to create a sense of balance to the situation. Provide our expertise when it’s required and at the same time stay open-minded and agile enough to adjust our approach to ensure that we don’t throw off the equilibrium and ensure that we reach that goal together. 15.01.2022 Meet Austin Lam DRKZEN’s Beloved Web Developer What motivates you about DRKZEN? ... Not everyone can easily say that their job is their passion. Personally, I had no idea what I wanted to do until I was given the opportunity to work at DRKZEN. At that time, I thought it would be good to get some experience in website building but little did I know, I was about to go on a journey of self discovery. Whilst working for DRKZEN, I was given freedom and flexibility to discover what I really enjoyed most through the various tasks that were assigned to me as well as overwhelming support along the way. After realising my passion to be a full stack web developer, I was motivated more than ever to continue down that path and be the best that I can be! I'm also surrounded by driven individuals with like minded goals to work hard and support each other until the very end. DRKZEN embodies passion and inspiration and it has truly manifested in me. I'm just a 21 year old trying to make a name for myself in this world. I'm currently a computer science student at UNSW and also a proud member of DRKZEN. I'm a business student at UTS about to graduate and enter a world of 'who the hell knows, but i'm in for it'. I love my cat Nylah and have a passion for marketing (it's also my job). Why DRKZEN? I love the team at DRKZEN. They're a bunch of genuine people trying to deliver a great experience and service. It's noisy out there in the digital marketing world and people are trying to crunch time to be the best, but if I ever have a question to ask about anything in general, I could see them taking the time and patience to help me out with anything to the best of their ability. What would you be doing with yourself if there were no limitations on what you could do? I would move to a new place to be honest if you asked me at this moment. Then I would still go out and continue to learn new things either by, landing a good role (ironically), and travelling the world while I did it. I wouldn't take a forever holiday, I'd need a strong purpose to make it more meaningful. Also, I'm a learner, and I don't ever want to stop that part of me, as it keeps me evolving. Because I'm so interested in marketing, I would probably go out and shoot documentaries about Japanese advertising as those are some of the weirdest and novel ones that seem to stick because they've probably mastered the human brain and what makes it respond.
