22.01.2022 Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is considered a severe form of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS). Both PMS and PMDD are characterised by unpleasant physical and psychological symptoms that occur in the second half of a woman's menstrual cycle; most commonly in the days preceding menstruation. Symptoms can be troubling and unpleasant and include bloating, headaches, joint pain, mood swings, panic attacks, fatigue, anxiety and insomnia. A number of treatments have been shown t...o be effective in managing this condition. If untreated, the symptoms of PMDD can significantly impact quality of life and a woman's ability to function at work, school or home. It is important that you seek medical advice if you are experiencing symptoms that interfere with your daily activities and functioning abilities. Len has been treating gynaecological patients for over 30 years and has a wealth of experience and knowledge in successfully treating conditions such as PMS or PMDD. 17.01.2022 For many women, the monthly period can be a major health issue and inconvenience. Some women chose to skip a period due to a number of reasons - hormonal headaches, painful heavy periods, PMS or PMDD. Others do not want to have a period whilst on holidays, during a sporting event or whilst on their honeymoon. Medical research has shown that it is safe and easy to skip your period whilst on the combined pill. There is really no medical indication for a woman to have a period ...whilst she is on the pill. It will not interfere with the effectiveness of the pill with regards to birth control. It also has no short term or long term effect on fertility. For women on the pill, the bleeding is actually known as a 'withdrawal bleed'. To skip your period whilst on the pill: Take all of the active pills in the packet. Do not begin taking the inactive or sugar pills. Start day 1 of the active pills on the day you would normally begin the sugar pills. Continue to take all of the active pills. How long you chose to do this may be determined whether or not you experience breakthrough bleeding, the type of pill that you are taking and the individual woman. For some women, three cycles is all they can manage before they begin to spot, other women can manage for up to six cycles. Some women will experience spotting or breakthrough bleeding about the time their period is due. Dr Kliman has been treating gynaecological patients for over three decades and can recommend the appropriate pill for you to take if you wish to avoid regular periods. #melbourneobstetrician #gynaecologist #obstetrician #melbournegynaecologist #epworthfreemasons #motherhood #womenshealth #fertility #womenshealthmelbourne #painfulperiods #menstrualcycle #pmdd #pms #contraception #hormonalheadaches #healthyliving
