25.01.2022 ChiroMyth Chiropractors only treat spines, wrong! Within my practice there are times where I can be full with sports injuries involving the legs and arms. If you see someone that cant treat an ankle or a shoulder alongside your sore neck then youre in the wrong place!

24.01.2022 Most headaches can be an easy fix after a few treatments involving soft tissue release, manipulation/mobilisations and exercises. The locations of pain with your headache are known as referred pain. These referred pains can tell you a lot about particular muscle groups and joints in the head neck and jaw. Commonly the muscles in the back of the neck give off the most amount of pain referral to the top of the head, temple and behind the eyeball. Jaw dysfunctions are less commo...n but a good practitioner should assess that part of your body to rule out any relationship to your headache. Heres 3 things I typically start with to help people with their headaches after treatment. 1) Document your headaches, when they start (morning, afternoon, night), how long do they last, where do you feel them. It provides valuable information to your chiropractor. 2) Chin Tucks with high volume of reps throughout the day (over 100 for some of you!) 3) Deep neck flexor strengthening, lying on your back push your chin down and hold that same posture with your head off the ground. Balance and co-ordination relies on visual inputs, which the neck controls the majority of where you look. Move your head quickly or not move it at all can results in neck pain, stiffness and headaches. Moreover the 3 highest sensory receptors for proprioception are hands feet and neck. So If it isnt feeling great it sure will after a treatment .

22.01.2022 If youve ever picked up a baby you know immediately just how floppy a baby can be. They can suck on their toes and move without restriction to their maximum ranges of flexibility. youll notice huge gaps between joints and growth plates notably within long bones. A thought that has plagued me is, how much joint manipulation treatment does that kid even need? Yes I understand that there are circumstances that require treatment. But it seems like I hear some baby has their ba...ck cracked and someone is at fault. From my clinical perspective the elite dancers/performers/gymnasts that I treat will commonly have ligamentous sprains, pars fractures and muscular strains. Do I need to manipulate them straight away not often, usually strength exercises and movements away from the impact areas relieve symptoms. Compared to an inactive and older person, they will feel a million bucks when they start moving those stiff joints.

11.01.2022 Did You Know? Unlike what it looks like in the movies, it is nearly impossibly to snap someones neck with your bare hands? 08.01.2022 Some areas of pain may sound similar " I have low back pain when im exercising at the gym" But the reason that pain got there in the first place may be different to some one else. A common question I hear is "How do I get rid of my pain" it cannot be responsed with a simple answer without firstly understanding mechanisms of injury and aggravation, previous history of injury, occupation, hobbies, exercise routine and lifestyle. Where one movement may provide pain relief for... one person could be excruciating for some else. Here is a example of how to treat low back pain by mobilisation with flexing and rotating in to the lumbar segments. This mobilisation is definitely not designed for everyone, but people dealing with pain/injuries from spinal extension, for example spondylolisthesis, facet injuries, and intevertrebral discs that have become dehydrated.

04.01.2022 ChiroMyth: Once you see a chiropractor you always need to go back. Answer: No, If you have an injury fix it then move past it. If you do your rehab to the full extent your old injury will not come back to haunt you. In some circumstances involving occupations and exercise that involve lots of physical stress, then sure, you may need to get more physical recovery than the average person to prevent overuse injuries from occurring. For everyone else make sure you know your prognosis (time frame for your recovery). If youre not recovered within that time frame, get a different opinion, change exercises etc. Just make sure you keep trying until your issue completely resolves!

03.01.2022 Sciatic Relief for when youre at home. Sciatic relief, can mainly be resolved from movement. Most sciatic issues arise from a disc bulge making up spinal joints and joints love to move, especially in extension (bending backwards). Warm yourself up with either a heat pack/hot shower/ 5mins exercise. 1) Start with back extensions and complete them in sets of 12-20 2) Glute bridge Isometric Holds, with you have too much pain moving your body around, try lying on your back on ...the floor and raise your hips off the ground. If you have pain going higher off the ground, hold your hips up to a point where the pain wouldnt feel worse than a 3/10. 3) Sciatic nerve mobilisation, lying on your back wrap a towel under your foot and commence a straight leg raise before your pain starts. From a comfortable position pull the towel towards you and then release it, mobilising the ankle forwards and backwards. Repeat as many sets as you can and make sure you seek professional help as nerves injuries take long to recover. See more
