22.01.2022 Strike a pose! We had a busy weekend at our practice with a photo shoot in preparation for a website update and brand launch (watch this space!). Following that we headed off to the Illawarra Women's Health Centre annual fundraising dinner. Our sponsored prize, thanks to some very vigorous bidding (not by ourselves I promise) got a very respectable return.
22.01.2022 Dr Dares’ team have been busy baking home made cookies and protein balls and are currently delivering happy holiday wishes to some lucky recipients. Ho ho ho and seasons greetings from all of us at Dr Meghan Dares. There are some exciting changes planned for our practice for 2020 - stay tuned for details!
21.01.2022 Dr Dares really enjoys having allied health colleagues in theatre. Although she always find each case interesting, having another professional visit puts a fresh perspective on procedures. Thanks Alicia, a podiatrist from the Shellharbour public high risk foot clinic, for joining us at Shellharbour Private Hospital today.
20.01.2022 Congratulations on your win Barb. We hope you enjoyed your voucher.

16.01.2022 Dr Dares recently enjoying hosting Dr Amy Touzell and her practice team from Frankston who observed the weekly private fracture clinic. A great opportunity to share both business development and patient management ideas. Plus dinner with some of the training surgeons was a real highlight.
16.01.2022 This evening Dr Dares gave a talk to physiotherapists and podiatrists on updates in foot and ankle surgery. Thanks to Leo from Athlete'sfoot Shellharbour for organising - an awesome time was had by all.
15.01.2022 Dr Dares was invited yesterday to check out and put to practice the new MaxFrame. This is a frame used by orthopaedic surgeons for the treatment of complex foot and ankle deformities. Its especially useful for patients with diabetes who may have an infection where conventional internal metalwork has failed. Although Dr Dares has previously used such frames, the newer frame has some improvements on the software that may make things easier for both the patient and the surgeon. #depuysynthes #orthopaedic #footandankle

10.01.2022 We are open and will continue to support the community of Wollongong and surrounds. During this period we are implementing some measures to increase safety to patients and staff. These include installing a protective screen in reception, reducing waiting room capacity and designing our practice around the recommend 1.5m space between people and 1 person per 4 square meters.... We appreciate your understanding and together we will make it through this!
09.01.2022 It's always fun catching up with one of the other 3% of female orthopaedic surgeons in Australia. Here Dr Dares and Dr Touzell are using their sunday morning to plan expansion of their private fracture clinics for 2019
08.01.2022 Tuesday is a busy day for Dr Dares. We have an Ultrasound Guided Injection Clinic here in the rooms. Our Sonographer Rose from @Advanced Ultrasound seen here with Dr Dares, scans the patients in preparation of an injection of Cortisone or Botox for foot and ankle conditions. We also have a private Fracture Clinic working with Beraldo Lilli and Anita Bout from Illawarra Physiotherapy.
08.01.2022 It was an enjoyable and informative evening at our rooms for the podiatry team from Freeman podiatry, a good discussion on preventative diabetic foot surgery and the transition to percutaneous or keyhole surgery. We will be hosting education sessions on a regular basis.
07.01.2022 One of our key goals is to be a responsive patient-centred practice. Subsequently we have started fortnightly Saturday morning consulting sessions. This will cater to busy professionals who may not be able to access specialist services during the traditional working week. Welcome also Mackenzie to our team!

02.01.2022 Did you realize that diabetic ulcers at the tips of the toes can heal quicker and have less of a risk of progression to bone infection with a short surgical procedure that we can perform in our rooms. This involves cutting the tendons to decrease the pressure that causes the ulcer in the first place. If your podiatrist or GP thinks you may be suitable for this procedure please have them refer you to our rooms for a ultrasound guided flexor tenotomy.
02.01.2022 It was great catching up with Melvyn, a dutch physiotherapist, who joined me for a morning in theatre. We discussed early post surgery weight bearing and how it may actually benefit, as opposed to hinder, wound healing. Food for thought!
