25.01.2022 Of all the babies I delivered during November, 75% were boys!... What are little boys made of? If you have heard the old nursery rhyme "Frogs and snails, and puppy dogs tails. That's what little boys are made of." That's a lot of frogs visiting the practice! We think little boys are a lot cuter than frogs. #babynurseryrhyme #birth #welcomeintotheworld #pregnancyjourney #obstetriccare #brisbaneobstetrician #obstetrics

12.01.2022 #FertilityFactFriday I understand how daunting IVF can be, so today I thought I would share a little about the process... Each treatment cycle takes around 4 weeks and typically is a 12 step process. 1: Initial Appointment I will review your medical history and any previous investigations. It is recommended that both partners attend this appointment so we can discuss both male and female factors that may affect fertility.... 2: Pre-treatment Consultation I recommend your individual treatment plan and give you the opportunity to ask any questions. 3: Treatment Begins You receive the medication required and are shown how to self-administer the injections by your QFG Fertility Nurse. 4: Hormone Stimulation You begin the Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) injections, stimulating your ovaries to produce more eggs than usual. 5: Treatment Monitoring Regular blood tests measure your hormone levels and ultrasounds measure the size and number of your ovarian follicles. We determine the best time for egg collection. 6: Trigger Injection Once you have the optimum number and size of follicles, you’ll have an injection of hCG to replace the Luteinising Hormone in the body and trigger ovulation. Egg collection usually takes place 37 hours later. 7: Egg Collection This process involves a short day procedure. On the morning of collection your partner will need to provide a fresh semen sample, so that we can immediately fertilise your eggs. 8: Egg Fertilisation Collected eggs are taken to the laboratory. In IVF, sperm and eggs are placed together in a dish where fertilisation occurs. In ICSI, an individual sperm is selected and injected into the egg. 9: Embryo Development The egg and sperm are placed into incubators to mimic the temperature of the human body. The next day, scientists examine the eggs to determine if fertilisation has occurred and will call you to advise on the development of the embryos. 10: Embryo Transfer I transfer a fertilised embryo back into the uterus through a very fine catheter passed through the cervix a procedure similar to a pap smear. 11: Embryo Freezing Any embryos not used during a treatment cycle may be stored for the future. 12: Pregnancy Test You will require to have a blood test 2 weeks later. If the pregnancy test is positive, we will arrange an ultrasound scan for 3 weeks time. It's important to remember that everyone's journey in the IVF process is different. If you have questions, or would like to know more, call @QueenslandFertilityGroup or my rooms on 07 3839 1033. If you are experiencing delays in falling pregnant, your GP can refer you to book an appointment with me at my Spring Hill practice. #FertilityFactFriday #fertility #IVF #qfg #obstetricianbrisbane #obstetrician #pregnancy #pregnancyjourney #womenshealth #IVFjourney

03.01.2022 Behind most busy women, there is a wonderful man Certainly true in my case! Meet David, my husband. David was the Practice Manager for a number of years at our Spring Hill rooms. He is my greatest support in both my professional and personal life. When I'm not delivering beautiful babies into the world, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our daughters. Recently we enjoyed a break at Bargara Beach. Taking time out to recharge, especially in a year that's been so unpr...ecedented, is so very important. David and I hope that you enjoy some much deserved downtime with your loved ones this festive season. . . . . #meetmyhusband #mygreatestsupporter #celebratinglife #family #familyiseverything #timeout #beachgetaway #bundaberg #bargarabeach #brisbaneIVF #queenslandIVF #brisbaneobstetrician #obstetrics #fertilityspecialist #travelmemories #selfcare #holidaymemories #adventuresinlife #drmelissaluckensmeyer #brisbanefertilityspecialist #obstetriccare #pregnancyjourney See more
