Like many SE QLD anglers, this brand i...s not only iconic but has a special place in my heart as a 99 year old Australia company. I had a chat with Allan Morris (the new CEO (pictured)) today about the exciting new releases and the plans ahead for the Alvey 100 year birthday early in the new year! The company (despite a myth floating about) is still 100% Australian owned with Con Athans (a local businessman) and Bruce and Glen Alvey co-owners. Allan told me about the popular new colour range and the incredible new light weight carbon fibre sidecast about to hit the stores (I see this as a must for those with dodgy backs)! I also heard more about the upcoming release of 4 new Alvey Orbitor spinning reels, and I already know first hand how bloody awesome those reels are after testing the little SR60 wading the flats of Fraser Island. Some other awesome news, you can now have your reels serviced in-house (like I did today) by the talented team including Tony (pictured) who has been servicing and making Alvey reels for 39 years! If you cant make it to Carole Park drop them at your local authorised dealer. My drags and anti-reverse are back running and working an absolute dream! Finally, with any new reel purchase you can get your name engraved on your Alvey, as you can on one of your metal back older Alveys (see picture of mine)! What an awesome birthday present for someone, an Alvey reels service and/or their name engraved on their own reel! So there you go, just a quick update from the home of the iconic Alvey reels.
