24.01.2022 CALLING DOODLE OWNERS AND BICHON CROSS PAWRENTS Hey there! Have you recently got a puppy? Or do you own a puppy? Is it perhaps a poodle cross or bichon... cross? Well listen up! Theres have been various rumours going around that poodle crosses and bichon crosses must not have a full groom before the age of 6 months because it affects their developing adult coat. Let me tell you this straight.. ABSOLUTELY 1000% COMPLETELY FALSE!!!!!!!! I dont know who needs to hear this but if you have recently got a puppy and you have been told to wait until 6 months for it to even set foot inside a groomers., then you as an owner must take full responsibility for your pups terrified behaviour, matted fur, aggressive manner because of lack of socialisation within a grooming salon. Puppies need to be in a salon environment as much as they can as soon as they have had their second round of vaccinations to help them understand these strange noises, tools, salon etiquette in order to be calm and stress-free being groomed. Cockapoos/cockerchons/ cavapoo/cavachon/cockerpoochon/cavapoochon/shihpoo/shihchon/springerpoo/jackapoo/ ANYTHING POODLE OR BICHON CROSS are not these magical dogs that have low maintenance coats! In fact they are much much harder to maintain because of the cross of two high maintenance pooches put together so youve doubled the effort of grooming entirely! No dog is entirely hypoallergenic, they still moult regardless some less than others so still need that undercoat brushing out daily or youll end up with sorry Im not going to put a dog through pain because you didnt brush it properly.. CLIP!! And then blaming the groomer for your lack of knowledge in such a high maintenance dog. To sum this up, ring your groomer get your puppy booked in regularly every 3-4 weeks for a bath, brush and trim for your puppy to be comfortable and happy. Or would you rather listen to some random advice in a book or google and wait until 6 months for your pup to be matted, terrified and stressed because some person said so. No. Listen to your groomer!! Heres Fozzie for example, he is brushed daily every day without fail. He has been in a salon environment since 12 weeks of age and is not phased by anything, a happy knot-free puppy. Fozzies first FULL-GROOM was at the young age of 14 weeks and look how his coat is thriving!! Now look at the second picture, a doodle cross that has been left over 6 months for his full-groom, if you dont shake your head and change your perspective on these so called low maintenance breeds then I guess Ill be seeing you in 6 months with a terrified puppy stressed out its mind for a full clip off Read this again, and again, just putting it straight for those that are uneducated in grooming and need to hear this to do something about it. Feel free to share away, we need to see less matted puppies in the salon and more happy knot-free cuddle monsters! Thank you

19.01.2022 PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR PETS ARE SAFE & SECURE Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING, LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS for people in Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ran...ges, West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands and parts of Upper South East, Lower South East, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts. A vigorous front associated with a complex low pressure system will sweep across the State this evening and early Wednesday morning. The front will first impact western coasts from late this afternoon then move eastwards to reach central parts including Adelaide around midnight. Damaging wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h are likely with squally showers and thunderstorms for a period ahead of and following the front as it moves across the warning area. In addition, localised destructive wind gusts in excess of 120 km/h are a risk with stronger showers and thunderstorms, mainly about western facing coastal areas with and just ahead of the front. Damaging winds averaging 50-70 km/h at times are also possible away from shower activity. The threat of severe winds will move eastwards and ease later Wednesday morning. A cold, fresh to strong west to southwesterly airstream with scattered showers will persist. For the Adelaide area, the main risk period of severe winds will exist from around 9 pm tonight, through to around 3 am Wednesday morning. Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Ceduna, Maitland, Murray Bridge and Kingscote. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move vehicles under cover or away from trees; * Secure or put away loose items around your property. * Keep clear of fallen power lines; * Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

16.01.2022 Good morning beautiful clients Drop In Hair wanted to put up a little reminder about collection of your pups Of late weve had a number of our human clients pop into the salon to see if their pooches are ready for collection. They unfortunately were not quite ready for pick up yet and had to come back later ... Here at Drop In Hair we will always message or call you when your dog is ready for collection If you are curious on times for collection or just needing to check in on how things are going please CALL ME at the salon first. This saves you an unnecessary trip down and helps to not apply too much stress on our team to rush the pups out Above does not apply if however we have discussed and organised a certain time for collection due to a scheduling issue on your end. Have a great day See you all soon

03.01.2022 Lets talk ANAL GLANDS Ever noticed your pooch chewing their feet excessively Or the good ol bum sctaching across your carpet, or prehaps the lovely stentch of fish and metals? These could be signs that your dog needs their anal glands EXPRESSED ... If their glands are not expressed regularly they CAN build up and pop on their own. This results in a nasty wound that may require vet attention As their owners you may notice these sings and smells in the prolonged time you have them in your care, versus the short time they spend in the salon with us Anal glands need to be expressed in the bath due to the stentch, so the dogs rear end can then be thoroughly washed. PLEASE IF YOU NOTICE THESE SIGNS IN YOUR DOG SAY SOMETHING UPON DROP OFF. This way we can be certain that each dog is properly taken care of and squeezed when needed only to avoid a painful outcome. Thank you all. May your bums stay clean PLEASE NOTE IF YOUR DOGS GLANDS ARE EXPRESSED THERE WILL BE AN EXTRA 10 DOLLAR FEE ON THE GROOM
