25.01.2022 I am on the road for the next week or so seeing current and prospective clients (and a few family stops along the way) from Nth Qld, to Central to Qld and even to the South East - I may even stop in for a quick surf..... This is what I enjoy about my business. Getting to talk to people whether it be in their commercial business or in their cattle or farming business. I love it. I have been told I am verbose...and it might be true....but the reason is that I am passionate abo...ut business people getting good quality information and advice in a proactive way. Maybe I'll see you on the road somewhere.... www.droughtproof.com

24.01.2022 It does look pretty schmicko.....but will it do all that they say it will? What do you think? https://www.abc.net.au//townsville-stadium-opens/11990518

24.01.2022 It has been a volatile year (and that is set to continue) but a good news story despite this

24.01.2022 Some good news for consumers and businesses!

23.01.2022 This is a real thing and business owners need to be aware!! If you ever get an email from a business you often deal with that is changing their bank details and sounds 'different' to their usual tone....make a call. Ring them and ensure that the email is from them. It is 5 minutes of your time that could save you thousands. https://www.abc.net.au//millions-lost-billing-sca/11958006

23.01.2022 Got nothing to add to this!!..

22.01.2022 What a good read, well done Leah & good job Barefoot Investor; beware the wealth creation weekend seminars and the sprukers, we see them advertised in the papers & on TV regularly pleased to see ASIC doing something visible at long last..

22.01.2022 How many of you out there don't have time to work 'on' your business? You are so busy working 'in' your business just getting through the days and weeks that you're not really sure where the time gets to and you're definitely not sure where other people find the time to actually do any PLANNING!! I'm afraid I do not have the silver bullet. You just need to make time....easier said than done right? Do you make and keep appointments with your accountant? Or with you bank manage...r? Or with your Doctor? Why not make an appointment with yourself? A few hours a week just to put aside and consider what needs to happen in the bigger picture? Just give it a go. What have you got to lose? www.droughtproof.com

21.01.2022 Many families on the land, who are considering the future of their family & their business sometimes assume they cannot consider or afford to develop a climate diversification plan, let alone secure sustainable water to underpin the growth of their business over time....it can be done, without taking onboard unnecessary or unpalatable risk....really cannot afford not to...

21.01.2022 Dont forget to do this before June 30 if you qualify...

20.01.2022 I feel like I shouldn't identify quite so strongly with this.... www.droughtprrof.com

20.01.2022 I am not sure that this would be a major issue for substantial grazing blocks across the North & North West, but it may cause some issues for those of us who operate grazing & farming businesses along the coastline of Qld, in the years ahead

18.01.2022 This fellow & the organisation he worked for, whilst licensed to provide credit advice, was not licensed to provide financial advice..I just wonder how this sort of thing can keep happening...

17.01.2022 Farmers Mutual Limited may well be the genesis of a long term solution to the difficulties in providing effective & timely tailor made insurance cover for the farming (and hopefully grazing) communities across Australia, all at an affordable premium. The key word being mutual, owned by the farmers/graziers, for the farmers/graziers...I will certainly take a closer look..

15.01.2022 Further evidence of the depth of business experience & entrepreneurial talent from within the Central & NQ grazing industry, not without risk for sure, but measured & from which all industry participants & customers will benefit over time. No doubt there is the capacity built into the project for additional scale in the years ahead. Pleased to see the involvement of the NAIF as well, putting their money where their mouth is & sends a message that this is clearly a well thought out, risk managed over time, proposal, that is no small achievement given the industry has been littered with projects in recent years which are yet to turn a sod.

15.01.2022 Hmm... might just have a point here...

14.01.2022 Sounds fair.... http://www.droughtproof.com/

11.01.2022 The magic of the 'team'. As a small business owner, you need to have that team around you, both personally and professionally in order to be truly successful. You can't be all things to all people, so surround yourself with people who are strong at the things you are weakest. Talk to people. Make connections. Above all, make sure your financial consultants, accountants, bank managers and other business partners are communicating and being proactive with their information and advice. www.droughtproof.com

11.01.2022 Watching David Speers at the moment on the ABbloodyC, seems to me as though all Speers is trying to do is set traps for the PM to sound inconsistent on message delivery... none of this dialogue thus far is of benefit to the national interest...

10.01.2022 G'day! The name's Denis. Will travel. Will bring a sticky bun. This is the part of what I do that I enjoy the most - having a cuppa round your kitchen table...whatever it looks like. ;-) To find out more go to www.droughtproof.com

10.01.2022 2020 is the year of putting my foot in it. I want to create conversation. I want you to argue with me. Tell me I'm wrong - stranger things have happened.... I will be writing a monthly blog that I like to call The Rant. Drop us some feedback. I'm into feedback. ;-) http://www.droughtproof.com/the-rant-1/

09.01.2022 Interesting development in Chinese investment activities across Northern Australia & perhaps a bell weather for further tactical acquisitions of this scale across Northern Australia?

09.01.2022 I know I keep saying the same thing but in different ways - but maybe it's because I feel it's important!! Most business owners are so busy working IN their business that they forget to work ON their business and 'plans' - both operations and financial - can sometimes fall by the wayside. Sometimes it's hard to know where to start. A third party can help as they can simply ask the right questions to kick start you on your way. I'd like to help.... www.droughtproof.com

08.01.2022 'peanut-safe environment'?? She mustn't be at a bank... To find out how you can rely less on the Peanuts at the bank, go to www.droughtproof.com

08.01.2022 So here is Rant #2. This month I wanted to talk about planning for the tax man...but it may not be what you think.... http://www.droughtproof.com/the-rant-2/

07.01.2022 We might think that it doesnt get cool in the Gulf.. but it can do, there are plenty of wins to offset having to drag the jumper out..

06.01.2022 Ain't that the truth!! www.droughtproof.com

06.01.2022 Oh no....I've never done that...

06.01.2022 Is there more to this than just some people take the plunge to buy a house and some don't? Is there more at play here and have they over-simplified the data? What do you think? https://www.abc.net.au//older-australians-who-own/11815006 http://www.droughtproof.com/

05.01.2022 This is a real issue for self funded retirees who need these franking credits from their market investments, to make ends meet. It is also worth remembering that it costs $60k per annum to live a comfortable lifestyle in this country which is going up over time as a consequence of inflation...those franking credits make a real difference

05.01.2022 Valuable lessons here for Aussie SME's & wouldn't it be nice if your Bank Manager, Accountant & Solicitor (financial adviser too!) recognised your circumstances & came to you for a change... Proactive? customer obsessed? timely advice? Now that is what I call disruptive! #what a scathingly brilliant idea! #why didn't I think of that

03.01.2022 This will make for an interesting read, according to this White paper 42% of us feel embarrassed about our level of personal debt, put that together with statistics about our level of personal debt being amongst the highest in the developed world & a 2014 survey that showed 53% of people earning $200k pa or more were angry & frustrated at their cost of living, I wonder when all this is going to end & when we might have that light bulb moment?

03.01.2022 Interesting sale on many levels, it would appear that the property market as relates to the grazing sector across Northern Australia is active, perhaps on the back of the better then expected 2017/18 wet season?

02.01.2022 This is something of a somber first post for 2018 however it is nevertheless true; I heard a statistic recently which stopped me in my tracks, at this time Australia's total household liabilities is about $2.466 Trillion. Gee that is a big number & means that not only do we have a home loan & a car loan but it goes all the way down to the furniture, the fridge, the microwave and on it goes; we just don't seem to want to manage our household budget so that the money out is less than the money coming in....Do we not want to budget anymore or is there more to this than initially meets the eye?

02.01.2022 Good question and a good answer, these people at their age might be doing a little better than many, but the message is that is is never to late to sort things out... the earlier you do that the sooner you arrive...

02.01.2022 In the leadup to the Christmas/New Year period (otherwise known as "the wet" to those in farming & grazing circles) thoughts can sometimes turn to Mum's wagon which has 300,000k's plus on it now, a new one $80k+, if we must borrow how can we do that & not pay half as much again for the thing (or more) with it being worth 30% of the purchase price at the end of the term? We should have a chat before you do that, I might be able to save you some coin which would help?

01.01.2022 Yes, yes I think he might be. But he's also a very smart man..... www.droughtproof.com
