25.01.2022 McDonalds confirmed this week that their support for our Mini Roos Program and Junior Players will continue into 2021 and 2022. The ongoing support is very appreciative and means Drouin Dragons are in a better shape to purchase new Junior and Mini Roos goals, balls and extra playing shirts for our Juniors. 25.01.2022 The Baw Baw Shire Council voted in favor of a new Multi User Pavilion and a new 206 space car park at Bellbird Park on Wednesday night. This means that the project can now proceed to the the detailed design phase. Over 40 Submissions and Community feedback was presented to the Councilors including submissions from Football Victoria, Gippsland Soccer League, Warragul District Specialist School, Hockey Club Presidents, Drouin Dragons Executive Committee, Coaches and Members. T...he new carpark will dramatically increase the safety of all supporters, members and in particular the increasing growth of our Junior Program. The new Pavilion will cater for over 600 players from both Drouin Dragons SC, 5 Hockey clubs and will be a great asset for hosting Tournaments, Gala Days and Finals at Bellbird Park. Quotes attributable to West Ward Cr Keith Cook It’s fantastic to now have an adopted landscape plan that has been developed alongside the community and PRG. We now look forward to further consultation with the PRG to develop the best possible outcome for the future sporting pavilion and other key projects. Quotes attributable to West Ward Cr Tricia Jones Bellbird Park is an important precinct for Baw Baw Shire offering opportunities for both active and passive recreation. This landscape plan provides a clear guide for future improvements to infrastructure, facilities, biodiversity and environment to make the most out of this space. Quotes attributable to West Ward Cr Jessica O’Donnell Thank you to each of the respondents who took the time to provide us with valuable feedback. We considered all responses and made the necessary changes to the plan to ensure it reflects the needs and wants of our growing community. https://www.bawbawshire.vic.gov.au//Landscape-plan-for-Bel

John is a passionate soccer fan and has supported Drouin Dragons SC for a couple of years now. All the whiteboards in the change rooms were previously provided by Office Choice.

08.01.2022 Return to Play Update: Drouin Dragons and the GSL are waiting for clarification on Registrations. Football Victoria and Football Federation Australia stipulate clearly that players MUST be registered to commence training. Question is, how can we as a club charge registration when we are still unsure how the season is going to look like or what discounts will be provided by DDSC, GSL, FV and FFA? The Gippsland Soccer League met last week with FV to try to sort this issue out.... It is the highest priority now so we can get the season underway. We are still waiting on clarification from FFA regarding our Mini Roos starting. In the meantime, Drouin Dragons SC polled their members last week with more than half of our members responding. 90% of our members are keen to return to training, 70% expect some reduction in registrations and 85% are not concerned about COVID-19 at Drouin Dragons with guidelines in place. Drouin Dragons will hold a small Working Bee Monday at 10am (tomorrow) with consideration to COVID-19. We will get the club ready so we can commence training as soon as we get clarification on the Registration issue. Tasks include: marking lines, clean bathrooms, clean canteen and club room, sort out playing shirts, inflate balls and sort out the ball shed. We would appreciate your time for a couple of hours to help the Committee get the club ready to start training. 02.01.2022 Drouin Dragons SC are reviewing the guidelines for returning to training that were provided by Football Victoria today. It's not as simple as turning up at Bellbird Park for a kick like we have done in previous seasons. We must also provide a "Return to Play" plan to the Baw Baw Shire Council for approval before any Club Training can commence. Some of the FV guidelines are:... -Ensure all facilities/buildings within the venue (including canteens) will be closed and not-accessible during training except for toilet facilities - Training zones must be a minimum of 45m by 45m (half pitch) - 10 players and a coach can be within each zone - Groups of 10 must not mix with each other and must remain constant, where participants can not swap between groups - A gap of no less than 15 minutes in between scheduled training sessions to avoid congregation - An accurate record of all attendees (including parents/carers) for the purposes of contact tracing must be kept, including full name, FFA number, phone number, date and time of attendance and confirmation whether they have downloaded COVIDSafe - All surfaces, equipment and objects (including around entry points) are wiped down after each training session with appropriate anti-bacterial / disinfectant wipes or soap, particularly those frequently touched this includes door handles, light switches, phones, remote controls, pitch entry points and any other high touch areas as well as all equipment including balls -Ensure that all players and coaches are appropriately registered on PlayFootball Failure to meet these conditions may void the FFA insurance policies under the national insurance program, may be dealt with under FV’s Grievance, Disciplinary and Tribunal Bylaw, and critically, may delay the return to competition Please be patient while the Drouin Dragons Committee work though the planning required to start Club based Training. Preseason is hard enough on Volunteers, let alone with the extra work associated with the COVID19 guidelines. For the complete list of guidelines, please click on the following link. https://www.footballvictoria.com.au/return-football

01.01.2022 Statement from the Gippsland Soccer League: On 29 June the GSL Club Delegates decided they were prepared to fight on for a 2020 season and up until 24 hrs ago, the likelihood of our juniors commencing looked promising. Following the events of the last 24 hrs such as contact training for seniors being deferred a couple of reported Covid19 cases within our region for the first in a very long time. Clubs were starting to express their reservations and the GSL were reduced to 3 ...clubs willing to continue at a junior level. The general mood among the GSL members started to shift. Bearing all this in mind it has been decided to cancel the 2020 GSL season. The GSL would like to express their sincere thanks and acknowledge the Club Committee members and volunteers who have worked tirelessly in difficult and uncertain circumstances. COVID is not leaving us anytime soon and the new protocols will become the new norm on how we manage our clubs into the future. Drouin Dragons SC will now suspend all training and club activities until further notice.
