24.01.2022 Today the Bushfire Natural Hazards released its seasonal outlook for Dec-Feb. Average to above average rainfall during spring and an outlook of above average rainfall for much of Victoria indicates we will experience a less severe bushfire season this summer, but an increased risk of grass fire. We will still have fires in our landscape, so please be prepared. https://twitter.com/i/status/1331803002055880704

23.01.2022 Don't forget to register your burn off. Maybe even rethink burning off today with this wind.

21.01.2022 Today Drouin West were called out to burn off that got away. This is the second burn off that got away in the past 3 days. It is a reminder that things are drying out quickly and it only takes a bit of wind before you lose control. Make sure you check the weather before lighting up and be aware of changing weather.

20.01.2022 If it's not windy, this is a good weekend for burning off the garden or farm trash to clear up your property. BUT DONT FORGET to register your burn. Call 1800668511 or register online. Registering your burn saves unnecessary turn-outs for us to false alarms. ... And PLEASE stay by your fire while it's burning to make sure it is in control. A few burn-offs have got away lately, because of careless landowners either not tending to their fire, or burning off when it was too windy. And we have to turn out to put it out. If it is windy - don't risk it. Wait until it is calm and make sure you have the time to stay by the fire until it burns completely down and put it out. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/contact/register-your-burn-off

20.01.2022 Would you like to keep up to date with planned burns in the area? https://plannedburns.ffm.vic.gov.au/

20.01.2022 This afternoon I had the pleasure to assist with 75yrs worth of service to the local community, with Wal receiving his 45yr service medal and CFA life membership and Chris receiving her 30yrs Service medal. This is fantastic and well deserved recognition of the dedication and effort that they have put in to Drouin, Longwarry and Drouin West brigades. Thank you to Greg Fisher from District 9, whom presented these medals. Capt.

17.01.2022 A normal fire season means that we will sill get fires in our landscape.

07.01.2022 NSW Officially started their fire season today. As Craig Lapsley, former Emergency Commissioner explains "NSW and other States always have earlier seasons than Victoria, which traditionally comes on later. Each state has its own preparedness campaigns trying to reach community members and provide information they will use to prepare themselves for the coming summer fire threat.... This year, the summer campaign developed by RFS NSW has community members who have lived experience in fire. These are powerful messages, and these stories should be heard by other community members, as well as Government, emergency management agencies, and you and I. The 2019/2020 Black Summer is not one that will be easily forgotten, and many people will be in recovery for a long time. If we’ve learned anything over the years, it’s that it is never too early to think through our own risk and what we will do in the event of fire. The consequences can be devastating." Think about how you might prepare for reduced fire risk around your property. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTJvGvniTE0&feature=emb_logo

06.01.2022 Fyi. Don't forget!
