24.01.2022 Terribly sad news, we have lost one great Doctor. He was wholistic, caring and forward-thinking as a practitioner.

24.01.2022 How privileged we were to have you in our lives, Peter. The love and strength you gave so generously, the spirit of fun and true compassion made you a very special person indeed. I thank you, and in Michael's memory, I thank you as well. Liz Westwater-James

23.01.2022 It's Peter's birthday today. Still miss him very much. Thinking of you Dr Fruit Loop. Xxxx

23.01.2022 Dear Judy, and all of Peter's family, the wonderful clown doctors, and the beautiful people at the Humour Foundation, This message comes from all of us at Demen...tia Care Australia and The Dementia Foundation for Spark of Life (Peter was one of our International Advisory Board Members). Our heartfelt sympathy goes to all of you, for such an irreplaceable loss, of dear Peter, who left footprints of love and joy in everyone's hearts. Peter was a great inspiration to us, and we saw in him a wonderful kindred spirit, on a very parallel mission to ours. He showed people how to break down the barriers of institutional care, and to humanise the care in hospitals and aged care. He was clever and creative, sensitive to the emotions of others and a gifted speaker and mentor. He leaves a very special and important legacy, in all of you. We know he will be watching on proudly as you continue his work. With love from Hilary Lee and Jane Verity and the Spark of Life Team

13.01.2022 Can't believe it's been a year since we lost our beloved leader. Sending love to Judy, Luke, Amber, Amanda and Isaac. His work lives on every time we go into the hospital and make sick kids laugh. Thank you for the inspiration, dear Peter Spitzer. We miss you and love you so very much

10.01.2022 Dear All who loved and worked with him, He was an extraordinary person whose work was made possible by those who cherished and enriched his drive to do what he ...did. Love to you all in this difficult time. A comedian on the radio the other day was talking about burial plots. He mentioned someone famous who replied to his wife about where he would like to be buried. The comedian answered, "Surprise me!". I know I laughed. My paediatric nurse colleague was travelling to Sydney today to say gopdbye to someone special who is dying. I told her the above joke and she told me of a family whose dear departed's hearse was hijacked. Luckily the family had a sense of humour and knew that the dead gye would have loved the whole escapade. Life is to be loved, laughed at and tolerated in that order in my humble opinion. Kind regards to his family most of all, and all who will miss him. Janet xx See more

07.01.2022 We are very -very!- pleased to announce a PhD scholarship which will investigate the impact of Clown Doctors in a paediatric hospital setting! It is named "The Dr Peter Spitzer Scholarship" after our beloved founder Dr Fruit-Loop. The Dr Peter Spitzer PhD study will take place at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne in the Department of Paediatrics; the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne and in association with the Murdoch ...Children’s Research Institute. It is a very fitting place for the PhD to take place as Dr Fruit-Loop was a graduate of the faculty of Medicine at Melbourne University. :) Naomi Brockenshire, our wonderful student pictured below, officially began work on Monday 13th October and yesterday observed her first Clown Round, with Dr Clever and Dr Nurse. Good luck with your research, Naomi! We look forward to reading the results of your study! <3 [Note: the photo is a bit blurry, due to its inability to contain all that awesomeness.]

06.01.2022 Peter was my doctor for over 30 years, he was so special I traveled to Bowral from Sydney for the last 15 years to see him because I couldn't find another docto...r who had the same compassion and made me feel like a special person. I could feel this from sitting in his waiting room, he was like this with everyone. I am so sad for Peter's family and for all of us whose lives he touched, but am enriched for knowing him. See more

04.01.2022 As a fellow doctor clown, I had the rich and most enjoyable pleasure to meet, talk, discuss and play with Dr. Peter at the international meeting in São Paulo la...st year. His first impressions arrived by e-mail before the conference and only confirmed his wonderful sense of fun and humor, loving heart, profound knowledge, experience and dedication to improving the lives of others through his work as a doctor, his art as a doctor clown and his life as a human being. May God bless his legacy and may his tribe increase a hundred fold. Thank you Peter! See more

03.01.2022 Thinking of Peter's family especially today. x

02.01.2022 In 2008 I attended a workshop run by Dr Spitzer at the annual ANZCA anaesthetic conference. It's not often you remember a conference workshop in such detail 6 y...ears later. At the workshop I watched in amazement the videos he showed of the Clown Doctors in action. I was in awe of his ability to make hospitals a better place for the kids and their families. He inspired me to include some of his tricks and techniques in my anaesthetic practice. So his magic and laughter spread a little further that day and in turn helped more families to cope better with a stressful trip to the operating theatres. RIP Dr Fruit-Loop. See more

02.01.2022 I am sad to hear of Peter's passing. Have fond memories of a lovely man and of the time he spent helping the holistic nurses with their work in the Clarence Valley of NSW. Farewell Peter.

01.01.2022 Thinking of Peter's family and all the people to whom Peter brought so much joy and love. His work, vision and beauty of heart continue in all we do. Deeply missed, but always with us.
