25.01.2022 Finding blood in your semen can be pretty scary. Most often it's not due to anything serious. Often symptoms can clear up by themselves. If you do find blood in your semen, it's important to come in for a chat.

25.01.2022 I love this post from Queensland Health so much!

21.01.2022 Hey Queensland We've added two additional symptoms to the COVID-19 symptoms list. If you're experiencing ANY of the symptoms listed below, come forward, get tested for COVID-19 and then stay at home until you get your results.

20.01.2022 Queensland has just had it's first case of Covid detected in the community in 113 days. This is a reminder that we need to stay vigilant. If you have any symptoms, even if they are mild, such as fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, fatigue or abdominal symptoms please isolate and get tested. Please don't assume it's not COVID-19, because that's how this outbreak will spread. If you have visited any of the locations listed in the Public Health Alert below and are unwell please get tested.

20.01.2022 This week is NAIDOC week. This week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. My clinic at Gasworks Medical Practice is on Yuggera land. #alwayswillbe

19.01.2022 This is great news for making it easier to access PrEP on the PBS!

19.01.2022 Trans Awareness Week is quickly approaching! During the week team at Gasworks Medical Practice will be sitting down to assess how we can make sure our practice is a safe and welcoming place for our trans and gender diverse people.

18.01.2022 Trans awareness week started yesterday! As a GP I've always felt it's essential to support and advocate for my LGBTI+ community. This year I've realised I really need to up my game with the trans, non-binary & gender diverse community in particular! This trans awareness week, I'll be sitting down with colleagues to discuss changes we can make at the practice to be a more welcoming place for our trans community!

16.01.2022 Yesterday was International Pronouns Day which is super important for our TGDNM community members. Referring to people by the pronouns they determine for themselves is basic to human dignity - a concept that cisgender folk often take for granted. I have made sure my website & email signatures show my pronouns as well as asking all patients on any intake paperwork to put things correctly in our GP software. Check out https://pronounsday.org/ for more info & resources for what you can do to promote the importance of correct pronouns.

16.01.2022 Do you take PrEP for HIV prevention? I've been seeing a lot of guys recently who have restarted their PrEP but weren't really aware of how many doses they needed before they are protected. Check out my article that explains things in more detail!

13.01.2022 So glad I get to work with a group that cares so much for LGBT young people!

13.01.2022 Trans Awareness Week What pronouns do you use? I use he/him/his. Pronouns are words we use when referring to another person so we don't have to keep using their name. For example, it's weird to say, "Sam went to the shops so that Sam could buy Sam's favourite lunch."... When a trans person comes out they may have new pronouns they want to use to reflect their gender identity. There are common pronouns that most people know: They, He and She. Asking people what pronouns they use can be a great way to make sure you don't misgender them. If you're unsure, try sticking to gender-neutral pronouns like they/them/theirs. Think about what pronouns you use and maybe put them on your business card or email signature. The more we start thinking about pronouns, the more we will help our trans, non-binary and gender diverse community.

12.01.2022 Today is World AIDS Day. World AIDS Day aims to encourage Australians to educate themselves and others about HIV; to take action to reduce the transmission of HIV by promoting prevention strategies; and to ensure that people living with HIV can participate fully in the life of the community, free from stigma and discrimination. Working in partnership with people with HIV, we can encourage others to understand how HIV is transmitted. We can support people to access testing, treatment and care, as we know that commencing treatment at the early stages of HIV results in better health outcomes and reduces the likelihood of onward transmission.

10.01.2022 If you took a break from PrEP it's important to know how to start back up again to make sure it works. Don't just cross your fingers and pop that pill!

06.01.2022 If you're in the Greater Brisbane Area you might start thinking about when to wear a mask: You are in a situation where social distancing cannot be maintained, i.e. public transport or a busy shopping centre If your GP has told you to wear one If you are caring for someone who has COVID-19 If you are attending a GP clinic, hospital or ED... If you are sick and getting a COVID-19 test See more

05.01.2022 Testicular cancer is more common in men between 20 and 40. It's something that not many guys think about checking too often. Feeling around for changes becomes a lot easier when you do it regularly - it's much easier to tell what's not right when you know your 'normal'.

03.01.2022 Ain't nobody got time for syphilis.

03.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day. It's important to think about what you might say or do if someone says they're not OK. Check out the video and resources from R U OK Day to learn more. You might change someone's life by just asking and being there!
