24.01.2022 Rhinoplasty case series #1 In this case a new patient presented with nasal obstruction caused by pinching of the nostrils. The patient was also unhappy with the appearance. Assessment:... - pinched nose caused nasal blockage - long nose - droopy tip Plan: - reduce the dorsum to create a slight curve on profile - lift the nasal tip - reduce the size of the nose - refine - correct pinch with structural cartilage support - open airways Result: - the picture shows the immediate result in the operating theatre. Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you have the option to seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner. Recovery time and treatment results will vary from patient to patient and depend upon a variety of individual patient factors.

23.01.2022 While I strongly believe that cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty are intertwined, I have noticed that many of my patients choose to pursue rhinoplasty for aesthetic reasons. Why do people want to change the appearance of their nose? To attain a more harmonious face shape To correct the shape of your nose (a big dorsal hump or a crooked nose) To give your nose the definition it needs... To correct the proportions of your nose it's too big, or the tip of the nose is not elevated enough Whatever your reasons may be, I will always help you make an informed decision and discuss which rhinoplasty procedure is right for you.

22.01.2022 A lot of women come through my doors seeking guidance and support during their breast surgery journey. There are times when I get to hear personal stories and work with patients who have had breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer that affects women in Australia and all over the world. As a doctor, I believe that we should educate ourselves more about it and understand the symptoms. They can manifest as: New lump in the breast... Pain and swelling Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast Nipple discharge other than breast milk, which may also be blood Change in the breast shape Let's look after each other and ourselves.

22.01.2022 After plastic surgery, many patients may experience pain and discomfort, especially in the first week. Pain can impact their day-to-day activities and the extent and degree of pain you feel after any cosmetic procedure depends on multiple factors. The type of procedure you undergo, your pain threshold, the use of local anaesthetic during the procedure and even your age can have influence. Read my new blog to learn more about pain management after surgery: https://loom.ly/PdfpUXo

21.01.2022 BREAST SURGERY SERIES BII AND BIA-ALCL Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks some of the risks associated with breast implants involve developing breast implant illness (BII) and breast implant associated - anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). BII is rare and not yet well understood. It refers to a range of atypical symptoms that some patients can develop after breast augmentation with implants. These symptoms may include joint and muscle pain, chronic ...fatigue, problems with concentration, rashes, gastrointestinal symptoms, as well as mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. Those who have a history of autoimmune diseases are more likely to develop BII. BIA-ALCL is a type of T-cell lymphoma which is a cancer of the immune system and it can develop in some women with textured breast implants. BIA-ALCL is a rare type of cancer, and despite a common misconception, it is not a type of breast cancer and, most commonly, appears only in the fluid around the implant. I believe it's very important to educate patients about the potential risks, so they can make a well-informed decision about their procedure. If you want to learn more about it, you can read my blog about BIA-ALCL: https://loom.ly/F13KuJ4

19.01.2022 Have you ever heard of the term "otoplasty"? It is the surgical procedure to change the angle and shape of protruding or uneven ears in children and adults. It is also known as "pin back", but there is a lot more to the treatment than the name suggests. Are you interested in learning about the procedure? Check out my new blog on otoplasty, what it involves, and who are usually the ideal candidates for the ear surgery. Link to the blog: https://rteixeira.com.au/everything-you-need-to-know-about/

19.01.2022 Repost @drbertelli of the yellow ipê tree in front of my medical school, the Santa Casa de São Paulo, Brazil. This year I was meant to go back for the 20 year reunion anniversary of our graduation. I was looking forward to catching up with Dr Bertelli and all my other school mates, but unfortunately COVID came along... ... Anyway, even though I am geographically distant, I still hold the memories of my friends, teachers and everything else at Santa Casa, close to my chest. I wish a merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! #santacasasp #mutretas33 #medicalschool #ipeamarelo

17.01.2022 BLEPHAROPLASTY SERIES: BROW LIFT Brow lift is a procedure that is often done in conjunction with blepharoplasty. Another term used to describe brow lift surgery is 'forehead lift'. This surgical procedure is performed to reposition the brows higher to achieve a better shape and look. It can help correct the vertical lines between the brows that make your face appear angry, and the horizontal lines on your forehead that we develop with age.

16.01.2022 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For me, it's an opportunity to educate, create awareness and provide support to my patients. As a community, we can show support by learning about breast cancer and donating to the cause. I urge all women, especially those aged 40 and over, to have regular mammograms as well as do self-breast examinations. The good news: Survival rates continue to improve in Australia with 89 out of every 100 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer now surviving five or more years beyond diagnosis.

16.01.2022 BREAST SURGERY SERIES BREAST REDUCTION Breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, is a procedure that involves removal of excess tissue, fat and skin from the breasts. Often, breast reduction surgery is done for functional reasons women who have large breasts may experience chronic back pain, difficulty finding bras and clothes of a suitable size, difficulty exercising and develop skin irritation under the breasts. Surgery can help you alleviate discomfort and achieve a breast size that is in line with your natural body proportions. If you're considering breast reduction, don't hesitate to contact me via email or call 8419 0900 for a consultation.

10.01.2022 BLEPHAROPLASTY SERIES: DOUBLE-EYELID SURGERY Double-eyelid surgery, also known as Asian blepharoplasty, is a surgery that aims to create the "Double Eyelid" crease. This procedure can help you achieve a more youthful and radiant look, making your eyes appear bigger. There are two techniques used for double-eyelid blepharoplasty: open incision or closed suture. Open incision method is a better choice for long-lasting results, however, it does involve your surgeon performing several incisions in the eyelid area. Closed suture technique is less invasive and it involves placing sutures instead of making incisions, however, it only lasts a few years, and the patients may need to repeat the procedure after some time.

10.01.2022 You'd be surprised to hear how many patients neglect check-ups, screening and self-examination which is vital for stopping breast cancer in its early stages. In my earlier post last week, I wrote about common symptoms of cancer to watch out for. Remember that if you notice any of those present, and if you experience ongoing pain or discomfort in your breasts, it's important that you make an appointment with your doctor to have it checked.

03.01.2022 The last thing my facelift patients want is to look like they had an operation. Is this case deep plane facelift lift for the lower face, combined with extended neck lift and neck corset reshaped the deep tissues and used the SMAS and platysma to support the face. There was minimal tension on the skin that allowed for a youthful appearance avoiding the operated look estigma.... Careful placement of the incisions avoided changes to the position of the hair line and placed scars inconspicuously. Facial fat grafting with microfat assisted with volume replacement and the refreshed look. The result is natural and more refined. My patient thought that I had made the post-op pictures smaller, but that is only an illusion as in fact the face appears smaller. #faceliftaustralia #faceliftmelbourne #necklift #facialfatgrafting #facialplasticsurgery #plasticsurgeonmelbourne #naturalresults #beforeandafter #drrodteixeira
