25.01.2022 Did you know women normally bleed between 60-80mls (6-8 tablespoons) every month? For some women it may be more or less, however if you are finding that you are passing clots larger than a 50c piece size, bleeding for longer than 8 days, needing to change tampon/pad hourly or more or bleeding through your clothes there may be an underlying condition that you should seek medical advice for. Sometimes there is no obvious answer, other times the bleeding may be related to polyps, fibroids or other causes. Your local doctor may ask you to have some blood tests to check your iron levels and your blood count and may also suggest a pelvic ultrasound to help understand the cause of the heavy bleeding. #menstruation #period #gynaecology #gynaecologist

23.01.2022 Lovely flowers from a lovely patient Very gratifying when a patient takes the time and effort to say thank you. Completely unnecessary, but certainly brightened up my weekend!

21.01.2022 Today the Australian Government announced that the restriction on most elective surgeries will be lifted after the Anzac Day weekend. This will mean that many surgeries that were put on hold during the past few weeks will now hopefully be able to go ahead. Please discuss your own surgical needs during your consultation for the most up to date advice. ... #electivesurgery #gynaecology #gynaecologist #surgery #surgeon See more

20.01.2022 March is Endometriosis Awareness Month! Did you know that 1 in 10 Australian women suffer from endometriosis at any one point in their lives? Thats 10%! Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to that which lines the uterus (endometrium) grows outside the uterine cavity. This can cause heavy periods, bloating, abdominal/pelvic pain and can even impact on fertility. This March, lets raise awareness and money for endometriosis education and research. Head to Endometriosis Australia or https://www.endomarchaustralia.org.au/ to learn more about the fight against endometriosis. #endometriosis #endometriosisawareness #endo #endometriosisawarenessmonth #gynae #gynaecology

19.01.2022 There are various naturopathic treatments that can be implemented outside of medical/surgical interventions to aid in the management of endometriosis, the first and easiest to implement are dietary changes. The aim of these dietary changes are to enhance the immune system, balance hormones, detoxify the liver, reduce blood flow and provide pain management. Dietary changes that can aid in management of endometriosis: Eat antioxidant-rich foods (kale, spinach, tomatoes, berri...es Use healthy cooking oils (olive oil or coconut oil) Avoid refined foods (white bread, pasta, sugar) Eliminate potential food allergens including dairy, wheat, soy etc.) Reduce or eliminate trans-fatty acids (cookies, cakes, french fries, donuts etc.) Avoid alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine Drink 6-8 glasses of filtered water per day Additions to your diet that can assist with blood flow and pain management relating to endometriosis: Ginger (anti-inflammatory) Flaxseeds (phytoestrogen and high in omega 3) Sesame Seeds (helps to regular muscle contraction and relaxation) Avocado (anti-inflammatory and a great source of vitamin B5 and B6) Raspberries (high dose of vitamin C and high fibre) Wild Salmon (high in omega 3 and a good source of protein) Chamomile tea (calming properties and aids in PMS mangement) Turmeric (anti-inflammatory and antioxidant) Thank you for the team at @caulfieldnaturalhealthclinic and @genyafleischer for providing their advice and guidance! #endometriosis #endometriosisawareness #naturopathy #naturopathicmedicine #health #womenshealth #gynaecology #gynaecologist

16.01.2022 Hot flushes getting in the way of things? Hot flushes often occur during menopause; a time where oestrogen levels in the body decline. Studies have found that the inclusion of a plant based substance called phytoestrogens can assist with management of hot flushes. The team at @caulfieldnaturalhealthclinic have provided us with a recipe rich in phytoestrogens: Tempeh with Brussels! - 2tbsp sesame oil... - 120g tempeh (thinly sliced) - 4tspn soy sauce - 2tspn rice vinegar - 1/8 tspn salt - 2tbpn chopped fresh parsley - 1.5 cups thinly sliced brussel sprouts - 2 tbsp chopped unsalted peanuts - lime wedge Cook tempeh and 1 tbsp sesame oil over medium- high heat until crispy and brown (2 mins each side). In a separate bowl, mix together soy sauce, vinegar, salt, 1 tbsp parsley. Throw in brussel sprouts and toss to coat. Sprinkle with peanuts and top with crispy tempeh slices and remaining parsley and serve with toasted lime wedge. #menopause #hotflush #gynaecology #health #recipe #womenshealth #recipe #food #health See more

04.01.2022 Introducing the Kyleena IUD! This IUD has the same hormone as the Mirena IUD, but at a much lower dose (19.5mg vs 52mg levonorgestrel). It is also slightly smaller and narrower in size, making it a great option for younger women who have normal periods and who have not yet had children. Due to its smaller size, it should reduce post-insertion cramps and may make for easier insertion in the rooms, reducing the need for a general anaesthetic.

01.01.2022 IUDs (intrauterine devices) are an extremely effective form of contraception. The copper IUDs are good for women who have light periods and prefer non-hormonal forms of contraception. The progesterone containing IUDs, most commonly the Mirena, and now available as the new mini-Mirena called the Kyleena, are excellent for treatment of heavy periods and period pain related to adenomyosis. For many women, they can be inserted safely in the rooms. Please feel free to contac...t us on 9964 0978 to discuss your contraceptive and menstrual control needs.
