25.01.2022 Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still b...Continue reading

25.01.2022 Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me. Take up shield and armor; arise and come to my aid. Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Say to me, I am your salvation. May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay. May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them away; may their path be dark and slippery, with the angel...Continue reading

24.01.2022 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. The Lord protects and preserves them they are counted among the blessed in the land he does not give them over to the desire of their foes. The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness. I said, Have mercy on me, Lord; heal me, for I have sinned against you. My enemies say of me in malice, When will he die and his name perish? When one of th...Continue reading

23.01.2022 He has founded his city on the holy mountain. The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are said of you, city of God: I will record Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge me Philistia too, and Tyre, along with Cush and will say, ‘This one was born in Zion.’ Indeed, of Zion it will be said, This one and that one were born in her, and the Most High himself will establish her. The Lord will write in the register ...of the peoples: This one was born in Zion. As they make music they will sing, All my fountains are in you. Psalms 87:1-7 NIV This Psalm is very interesting because once again God makes it extremely clear that Jerusalem is the city which has been built by God and declared as His own city, the Holy city and God has chosen this city to be the center focus of the nation of Israel and God admits that He loves this place more than all the other places the Israelites live in. Is there any more doubts that you have that God chose Jerusalem to be His place? Well He provided His stamp of approval by allowing His temple to be built there as well. Now is it any surprise that if God claimed this to be His place , why so many people want a piece of this land? When Israel asked the world to acknowledge Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel, what they were asking was that humanity recognize God’s verdict on this. Jerusalem is the place that God has chosen not just for worship right now or in the past, but this is also the place that Jesus Christ will rule from during the 1000 years of His reign. Believers who have trouble accepting Jerusalem as the Holy city of God now for what ever political reasons, what excuse would you be able to give God when He rules from His Holy city? Friends we have to understand that Jerusalem is one of the most volatile places in the planet and if you go there, it is just an ordinary city, nothing in to make it the most valuable real estate in the world, until you understand why that is the case. It’s God’s chosen land, so of course the devil wants to grab it from God. He is always wanting what God has. Isn’t that how he fell from heaven in the first place. So when we understand this we can see how the devil is using people to create turmoil in Jerusalem. Friends I don’t know about you, but anyone who is trying to divide Jerusalem is trying to divide the home that God has chosen. I don’t think that’s a smart idea at all! Let us take this opportunity to pray for the peace of Jerusalem as the Bible has asked us to. While we do pray for peace let us also ask that God to restore His people and that they accept the Messiah Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

23.01.2022 I will exalt you, Lord, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me. Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit. Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people; praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. When I felt ...secure, I said, I will never be shaken. Lord, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed. To you, Lord, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness? Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me; Lord, be my help. You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever. Psalms 30:1-12 NIV This is a song for the dedication of the temple according to its title. We do see David encouraging the people to sing and praise God. He qualified this and said His faithful people. He tells them to worship God and praise His Holy name. However what stood out to me was the fact that David really rejoices in this Psalm because God has answered his prayers and he did not allow him to be defeated or humiliated but exalted him in the presence of his enemies. David also gives us the reason why God has turned his wailing into dancing. He knows exactly why God has removed his sackcloth and clothed him with joy. It is so that David will praise God and not remain silent. David also pleads with God to not hide His face from him. He also asks God not to take his life, so David understands that his life is in God’s hands. He knows that even though there may be weeping and sadness due to problems in life that he may reminisce on at night, joy comes in the morning. He knows that whatever happens God will restore him. David makes an interesting comment, he tells God as though God doesn’t know this that if he dies, then will the dust praise God?? Interesting that David is trying to persuade God that it’s worthwhile that he is alive!! Sometimes friends we think that we need to inform God of things like this, but it also tells us that David is aware about God’s desire for us to praise and worship Him. David knew it is God who delivered him out of the pit. Friends God is such a loving and merciful God and today like David we too can praise and worship God for He is good and He has turned our mourning into dancing and removed our sackcloth to clothe us with joy. Let us always remember to be grateful. If a King like David could demonstrate his gratefulness don’t you think we should too?

22.01.2022 In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God. I hate those who cling to worthless idols; as for me, I...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon leap like a cal...f, Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning. The voice of the Lord shakes the desert; the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, Glory! The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalms 29:1-11 NIV David encourages us to ascribe to the Lord the glory that He is due. Isn’t that a very reasonable request? The reality is that God is worthy of all our praise and worship. If you just think this through, you will realize that God has done so much for mankind and personally for each one of us. This should be a given! David then speaks of one particular aspect of the glory of God. He speaks about the voice of the Lord. This is such a powerful voice that it can shake the whole world. It is majestic and so powerful that it can break some of the strongest woods in the world like the cedar. It is so powerful that it can strip the forest bare and twist the oak. In some translations causes the deer to give birth! So powerful is the voice of God. Friends when I read this what occurred to me was that although the voice of the Lord is so majestic, yet the Lord Jesus chose to remain silent when he was being accused by Pilate. We know that when Jesus was being questioned by Pilate He kept silent as a sheep before the shearers. Why did Jesus not speak up and prove his innocence? He remained silent so that God’s plan for Him would be fulfilled. He came to give His life for you and me. He kept silent so that we could have a voice now. We can sing praises to Him and worship Him. Friends we need to worship God with all our heart and ascribe to Him all the praise and worship that He deserves. The voice of the Lord which is so powerful became silent so we can now loudly proclaim praises to Him. I hope we will do that today and every day with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength.

21.01.2022 Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gat...Continue reading

20.01.2022 I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes. In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good. Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong. Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your r...Continue reading

20.01.2022 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, th...e earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Psalms 46:1-11 NIV This is such an encouraging Psalm to strengthen us, I felt so blessed reading this and I really hope you do too. God is our refuge and our strength. You know I often wonder what do people who don’t believe in God or love God do? What is their source of refuge and strength? Perhaps drugs, sex, alcohol, career to name a few things. Let’s not forget materialism. However the refuge of the believer is in the almighty God, He is our source of strength and an ever present help in times of trouble. The word ever present tells me that it’s not just for sometime, God is always there for us. He doesn’t go on holidays or long service leave!! He is always in control. The psalmist also addresses the issue of fear. Let us be honest if there is any year in our lives that our hearts may have been gripped with fear it is this year. It’s shocking to see how life has changed and the world around us has changed. To think that just from one illness alone over 200m people have died. Fear is real and this is not new it was there from David’s time. The psalmist is assuring us that although bad things may happen let’s trust in God who is above all things. Even when everything seems to be going haywire we can trust in God. The psalmist says be still and know that I am God. This is the certainty that we have through our God. It’s not temporary but everlasting. We just need to relax and sit back and allow God to look after everything as He always does. Let us remember even during these uncertain times that the God of Jacob is our fortress. He is a never changing, ever present God who just wants us to be still. Let not fear overcome you, but trust, and rest in the God of Jacob. He is the fortress that will never fall and His Kingdom is eternal. The Kingdoms of this world will not stand. But God’s kingdom will be eternal.

20.01.2022 I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the thin...Continue reading

19.01.2022 The red army liberated Auschwitz-Birkenau 75 years ago, and as the world remembers and commemorates this event, I wanted to share my own experience as I visited this place of horror. Today God is transforming this place to a place of life and hope. Join me in this journey to discover what happened in Krakow, and Auschwitz-Birkenau.

18.01.2022 My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever. Gird your sword on your side, you mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty. In your majesty ride forth victoriously in the cause of truth, humility and justice; let your right hand achieve awesome deeds. Let your sharp arrows pierce the...Continue reading

14.01.2022 The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice. Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side. His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all peoples see his glory. All who worship images are put to s...hame, those who boast in idols worship him, all you gods! Zion hears and rejoices and the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments, Lord. For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name. Psalms 97:1-12 NIV I want to just start with verses that have encouraged me so much and those are the last couple of verses. You know this has been a very difficult year for most people in the world, and we have seen unprecedented sickness, suffering and death. While we can see some light at the end of the tunnel, these verses just stood out to me. Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart. So you know irrespective of how the situation looks right now, we can be sure that God’s promises will be fulfilled and God’s sunshine His light will surely fall on those who are upright and we will have His joy! The Psalmist says that righteousness and justice are the foundations of His throne. So while we are disturbed about the foundations of our nations and kingdoms of our world, especially with all the nonsense going on at the moment we can be sure the kingdom of God will be a righteous one. The reality is that we are only pilgrims on earth. While we would love to see truth prevail and justice in this world, we may not. But rest assured our 80 or 90 years in this world is nothing compared to the eternity we have with God our righteous and just King! In the end all will see the glory of God. And sadly those who have rejected him, those who continued to worship their idols will be put to shame and they will really miss out. It is sad and certainly not something we want to see happen but the reality is that we will. So let us take some time each day to pray for our family, friends, peers and colleagues who don’t know the true God that they would come to know Him and His love. That they may see the light of God shinning upon them and that His joy will fill their hearts too.

14.01.2022 I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fea...Continue reading

14.01.2022 Vindicate me, my God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked. You are God my stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy? Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God. Why..., my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalms 43:1-5 NIV I think that if there was a possibility of David separating himself from the nation of Israel he would. He realizes that the nation has been unfaithful and that he is facing the wrath of his enemies because God has allowed it to happen. He is asking God in a sense why should he take the blame for the nation being unfaithful. Why should he have to mourn and walk around defeated and oppressed because of the nation of Israel. Well that is an interesting question that David is posing but as a leader of the nation as the anointed King of Israel he has to take the wrap for the nation he leads. The truth is all leaders have to face this issue. In reality although David himself has not done wrong, being the King he has to take responsibility for the nation that is ruled by him. Every leader has to. If you take the current situation in the world every nations leader will be held to account for what is happening with the pandemic in their nation. It doesn’t matter if they themselves have not done wrong. They are held accountable and there are many examples that we can think of. That is just the nature of the problem. It is not hard to understand why David is so frustrated and he feels so downcast because he has to face the cards, his nation has ignored God and sinned against him and all David wants is to be able to find God, and worship God in His holy place. David doesn’t fare well when he is unable to worship God. How do you feel when you are unable to worship God? Do you feel like David does? Have you as a leader been in the situation like David has? How have you responded to it? Even though David shares his frustration in the end he realizes that his hope is in God. He ends by praising God and His savior.

13.01.2022 The Lord is a God who avenges. O God who avenges, shine forth. Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve. How long, Lord, will the wicked, how long will the wicked be jubilant? They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting. They crush your people, Lord; they oppress your inheritance. They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless. They say, The Lord does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice. Take not...Continue reading

13.01.2022 How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. 11.01.2022 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary. Ascribe to the Lord, all you fam...ilies of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. Say among the nations, The Lord reigns. The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness. Psalms 96:1-13 NIV This Psalm is a song that encourages us to worship God. Sing, praise, declare, ascribe, worship these are all different words used to bring glory to God. We are told to sing a new song and praise God day after day for His Salvation. It’s true isn’t it, it doesn’t matter how long we have been worshipping God, there is always a new song and a new day to worship the King of Kings. There are many aspects that we can focus on but today something that really touched my heart is how God’s creation like the trees sing for joy to God!! The heavens rejoice, the earth is glad, the fields are jubilant, the seas resound and everything in them! It’s incredible how all of creation rejoices together. None of God’s creation has any hesitation in worshiping or praising God and they are all so happy and joyful. No one needs to remind them that they should praise God it comes naturally to them. Yet we who are made by His own hands and in His image, we have been given so much more. We have been given choice and yet when it comes to worship and praise we need to be encouraged to do it. Let us be honest, having a relationship with God, spending time with Him, it all takes a concerted effort and unless we really take the time we can easily forget to do it. I hope that we will be like God’s creation that doesn’t need to be told and that we would naturally be found worshiping and praising God. Then we would also be as happy, jubilant and joyful as the field, the trees etc. I must say this chapter has given me some new perspectives on how to be happy and joyful!

10.01.2022 Vindicate me, Lord, for I have led a blameless life; I have trusted in the Lord and have not faltered. Test me, Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind; for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness. 09.01.2022 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the ...people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice, Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested me; they tried me, though they had seen what I did. For forty years I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways.’ So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ Psalms 95:1-11 NIV What an awesome Psalm of praise and worship to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords! The Psalmist is encouraging all the people to come together and worship God with song and music. He gives many reasons why we should and one of them is because He is a great God, the King above all gods. Another reason to worship God is because of His creations. The mountain peaks, the sea, the depths of the earth, the dry land all of it has been made and belong to God almighty. The Psalmist says we need to kneel before God who is also our maker, we are the flock of His pasture which means He is our shepherd and we are His belonging and He is the one who cares for us. The Psalmist reminds the children of Israel about how they rejected God and hardened their hearts against God in the wilderness although they had seen the mighty works of God. Of course it was the ancestors of the present generation. This resulted in God being angry with them for 40 years they roamed the wilderness going in circles. So God made an oath in His anger that they would never enter His rest. It’s very sad when we look around us today and see the condition of the heart of man. I wonder how God feels about us. How we have been so stubborn and hard hearted towards God. We would rather believe a theory that is so implausible than to believe in God whose creation screams of His glory and majesty. I wonder what is God’s reaction to this? I hope that we who know the truth will not harden our hearts against God but come together to praise and worship this King above all gods. Let us praise Him with all our hearts, our mind, our strength. May His name be lifted up above everything else.

08.01.2022 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, Where is your God? Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed...Continue reading

07.01.2022 The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations. Let them praise your great and awesome name he is holy. The King is mighty, he loves justice you have established equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right. Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy. Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who called on ...his name; they called on the Lord and he answered them. He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them. Lord our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds. Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy. Psalms 99:1-9 NIV The psalmist talks about the nations trembling because the Lord reigns and He is Holy. There are other verses too in this Psalm that tells us that God is Holy. You know this is what really stood out to me today. We forget that God is a Holy God. Why is this so important you may ask. Well would you want to follow a God who is not Holy? Someone who was just like us? What would be the point of that! God is above us all and He is Holy. The Psalmist asks us to exalt the name of God because He is Holy. This is something to be celebrated. You know when we look around the world one thing we can’t find is Holiness! God is indeed Holy and righteous. Someone told me the definition of holiness can be thought of as anything you think of it’s the other! In other words Holiness is something so hard for us to comprehend let alone try to live that way. Let us remember that God is a forgiving God even to the nation of Israel although He did punish their misdeeds He has forgiven them. While we know that it’s hard to live a perfect life and we know we will make mistakes it’s good to know that God will forgive us and so we can hope in God.

06.01.2022 The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the b...Continue reading

04.01.2022 We have heard it with our ears, O God; our ancestors have told us what you did in their days, in days long ago. With your hand you drove out the nations and planted our ancestors; you crushed the peoples and made our ancestors flourish. It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them. You are my King and my God, who decrees victories for Jacob. Through you...Continue reading

03.01.2022 You, Lord, showed favor to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. You set aside all your wrath and turned from your fierce anger. Restore us again, God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and gran...Continue reading

03.01.2022 O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God. See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. Come, they say, let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more. With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, Byblos, Ammon and Amal...Continue reading

02.01.2022 I said, I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked. So I remained utterly silent, not even saying anything good. But my anguish increased; my heart grew hot within me. While I meditated, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue: Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothin...g before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure. Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be. But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you. Save me from all my transgressions; do not make me the scorn of fools. I was silent; I would not open my mouth, for you are the one who has done this. Remove your scourge from me; I am overcome by the blow of your hand. When you rebuke and discipline anyone for their sin, you consume their wealth like a moth surely everyone is but a breath. Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were. Look away from me, that I may enjoy life again before I depart and am no more. Psalms 39:1-13 NIV This chapter has really made me think about life. David asks God to show him the number of his days, to actually show him how short his life actually is. He recognized that his life is very short just a hand breath and the span of his life is nothing before God. David also tells us the state of humanity. People live as though they have a very long life and chase after the things of this world rather than the things of God. People chase after money, and try to accumulate wealth not even knowing who is going to use that wealth when they are gone. David talks about how God can just take away our security of wealth in this world just like a moth eating it all away. When God disciplines us for our rebellion and sin He can take away our wealth. So the question I have today for myself and for each of us is, what is it that we have set our eyes on? Are we chasing after wealth and money or are we chasing after the things of God? A question we can ask ourselves is what if we knew how long we had to live? Would you change anything that you are doing if you knew that all you had was another year, maybe few months? Let us be honest here and evaluate how we would live our life differently if we knew? Often when we analyze an incident we have the benefit of hindsight. Sadly for our lives we only have one to live and no benefit of hindsight. So let us live this one life we have for God and may His name be glorified through our lives. After all none of us know how long we have left!

02.01.2022 Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. Your arrows have pierced me, and your hand has come down on me. Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin. My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear. My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly. I am bowed down and brought very low; all day long I go about mourning. My back is filled with searing pain; there i...Continue reading
