25.01.2022 This study confirms what we already know The vast majority of ACL injuries in soccer are non contact What I did find interesting was the injuries mainly occurred whilst defending, in the first half of the game and in dry conditions

24.01.2022 The threat of COVID-19 is serious. To protect my patients and my community, I will be offering Telehealth consultations. Please call us and we will help organise this for you Stay safe and stay at home!

24.01.2022 While it may seem counterintuitive, exercise actually does help with your arthritis pain. It won’t magically cure your arthritis but it will certainly help with the symptoms ie pain. We just need to learn to be smart with how we exercise in order to enjoy the benefits without making things worse. Read on.........

22.01.2022 Exercise is still very important despite COVID-19 restrictions. Social distancing precautions still apply and with a bit of common sense, there is no reason not to go outside for a run.

22.01.2022 Any amount of running, even just once a week is better for you than no running! But beware, running a lot more doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be better off.

20.01.2022 How badly do you want to build muscle?

20.01.2022 Everyone is trying to do the right thing and exercise at home. Many of us (myself included) will see this as an opportunity to build strength and fitness. Unfortunately this article completely deflates that idea. At least the author of the article was honest!!

18.01.2022 Unfortunately the answer is No! This study only used one common screening test so we do need more than one test to make the best prediction The study did show that generally coaches, trainers, sports doctors and surgeons all agreedon the same person that is likely to injure their ACL, so we are all looking out for the same thing

17.01.2022 Like the rest of the world, I’ve been forced to stay at home too. Therefore my spare room has been converted into a home gym I’ve taken the opportunity of using the downtime to work on my own strength and conditioning. This is something I’ve never done with any great conviction before but after 40 days of daily sessions I must admit that I’m feeling stronger and better than ever. I’ve been able to rehab all the annoying niggles that I’ve battled throughout the years. I still prefer to go out for a run but this is something I’ll continue to maintain from now onwards

14.01.2022 10,000 steps per day to stay healthy!!! That figure supposedly came from an ad to sell a pedometer back in 1965 At that time there was no actual science behind it Now we can say that it is actually true but we can actually get the benefits with far less steps Regardless of that, it is important to keep moving for general health

13.01.2022 Human MRI Doctors can make a diagnosis of an ACL injury from an examination.

06.01.2022 A simple way to activate muscles esp after surgery. Since the affected joint isn’t moved, it’s an opportunity to keep the muscles activated whilst recovering. Another advantage is that it requires no equipment or gym etc and can be done almost anywhere and anytime

06.01.2022 More steps per day = more weight loss! Not quite When I first read this I thought it was pretty obvious but when you stop and think about it, it makes sense that walking more steps per day doesn’t necassarily mean more weight loss because there are so many factors involved in weight maintenance. At the end of the day, there is no harm in moving more and the benefits( physical, mental, environmental etc) clearly outweigh the risks.
