25.01.2022 7 yrs ago today it was my last day of work in Christmas Island doing Refugee Health. It was insightful to say the least. As then, I'm looking forward to coming back home.

20.01.2022 Being a doctor right now is a really odd experience. Work is quite literally nuts and yet it's only just the beginning. I actually don't even know how I feel. But today someone I'd never met, or done anything for, but is a friend of a friend made me a lasagne because they just thought life must be stressful for healthcare workers right now. This is a person who is still going to work (not working from home) and has two young kids. The world isn't all toilet roll grabbing, there is incredible kindness out there and today I am really grateful for it.

19.01.2022 You are empowered by your choices. 1. Please prioritise physical distancing. IF you must socialise with people keep a minimum distance of 1.5 metres. 2. Avoid Group Activities for the next few weeks.... 3. Wash your hands after touching potentially unclean surfaces. Wash your hands before you eat any food. 4. Avoid touching your face. 5. Play your part a. If you don't want this to spread rapidly and harm the people around you, and the people around them. Take responsibility for your actions. You are not exempt from taking precautions just because you don't know anyone with COVID-19 right now. b. Have enough food, medication and essentials for up to 1 month but don't hoard and impact other people's ability to access their needs too. 6. Keep connected. Reach out to your friends and family who are making an effort not to infect you or anyone else. Its challenging to self isolate and deal with the constant barrage of negativity but when we connect with each other it makes it so much easier. Go for a walk together (1.5 metres apart ) if not sick or in formal isolation. Check in with a call/video call. Texting is good, but its not the same as hearing someone's voice or seeing their face. 7. Do not underestimate your actions. YOU can make all the difference. YOU can set an example. YOU can strongly advocate for the safety of friends, family and colleagues. As per Ice Cube's 1999 smash hit - " You can do it, put your back into it." Please take note of the physical distancing on stage. Definitely Ignore all other scenes. https://youtu.be/6auk1TkGtVQ

18.01.2022 Being a doctor is challenging. I'm not talking about the glorified ways in which the challenge seems like a compliment. I'm talking about the impact of taking care of people who are struggling in their own mental and physical journeys, the expectations we impose upon ourselves and the expectations others have of us (patients, colleagues, bosses, family and the public). Regardless of whether we are at work or not we never stop being doctors. Today is a reminder that we are also human, and aren't exempt from the challenges everyone faces. All doctors know a colleague who has suffered from depression, suicidality or suicide because of their job. All of us have struggled at one point or another. This is a moment to acknowledge and support our people whilst we do what we do. #crazysocks4docs

13.01.2022 Some would say being a #royalflyingdoctor with a fear of flying is an oxymoron. For #August and then back @holdsworthhouse

10.01.2022 Warning, this isn't a humble brag. Its a proud one. 10 years ago I was awarded Senior Resident of the Year @ St Vincent's Hospital Sydney, a hospital that still holds a special place in my heart. #2010

08.01.2022 Happy birthday to me! For those who are wondering if I am ageing well, here's some proof of humble beginnings.

02.01.2022 SEVEN years ago today I finally finished training! The journey really started in 2000 when I was a high school student doing everything I could to get into Medicine. I didn't get in, so I did a year of science and reapplied. The next half decade was spent trying to get through Med School and then another six years training as a doctor in hospitals and in general practices. $50k in student fees (which I paid off by this date) and countless exams later I finished! My big regret is not going to my fellowship ceremony because of work, but I'm celebrating today with a big smile (and instagram post) #racgp #medicine #gp #doctor

02.01.2022 It's okay to ask for what you want and its okay to say "That's not good enough." Know your worth. #work #life #love
