21.01.2022 A good article in The Hervey Bay Independent today.

20.01.2022 No specialty benefits more from technological advances than Orthopaedics. Where next? Watch this space. https://www.verywellhealth.com/3d-printing-in-orthopedic-su

18.01.2022 I often get asked about the best surgical approach for total hip replacement surgery. There is a lot of market driven demand for the direct anterior approach, claiming quicker recovery. I prefer a less invasive posterior approach using large bearing size and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery principles. Here is a video of one of my patients at 4 weeks post hip replacement. 2 days in hospital only and rode his motorcycle in from work today. Malek et al have also found that my approach is not only just as good but also has lower periprosthetic fracture risk.

16.01.2022 My team has worked very hard recently to make joint replacements in Australia more affordable for uninsured patients in the private system. Please talk to us at Nautilus Orthopaedics Queensland, before considering medical tourism in another country that doesn’t offer our high standards. As the surgeon involved, I’ve negotiated with the private hospital, prosthetic manufacturer and medical staff involved in patient care, and we’ve been able to save self-funded patients over $14,000 AUD. Try a medical holiday in your own country on the beautiful Fraser Coast! We are also offering this same arrangement to international patients who are considering joint replacements overseas.

14.01.2022 A well balanced knee replacement is a key factor in ensuring happy outcomes. This is a major reason for me choosing Robotic Assisted Balancing. Data shows that these well-balanced knees allow most patients to begin walking mere hours after surgery and that patient satisfaction averages 95.1% at 6 months post operation, compared to an industry average of 81.4% https://www.coringroup.com/uk/news/balancebot3000/

09.01.2022 The fear of pain following Total Knee Replacement is a common concern. I am fortunate enough to work with very well trained anaesthetists and together we provide ‘multimodal analgesia’ that not only minimises post operative pain, but also reduces the chance of any complications. I am really proud of how far we have come in this regard. To be able to see patients with minimal pain, needing minimal extra pain relief after surgery is a real testament to our team based scientific approach. https://www.asra.com//special-considerations-for-knee-repl

05.01.2022 Preparations are underway for the launch of the Nautilus Orthopaedics app. This app will use technology to improve the patient experience, assisting with every step of the surgical journey. Patients will receive continuous guidance and helpful information from their personal surgeon, at the touch of a button. Thanks to the Corin team for making this happen!

04.01.2022 Thanks for the feedback on our self funded/medical tourism program.

04.01.2022 Dr Elix and the Nautilus Orthopaedics team are pleased to announce that we now have a full-time musculoskeletal physiotherapist on our team. Our new therapist has more than 20 years of clinical experience. We’re very pleased to satisfy the demand for a physio who doesn’t waste our patients’ time. Gone are the days of sitting in a physio clinic receiving placebo treatments so the therapist can double book and work on two patients at once. We offer one-on-one treatment, customised to the patient’s specific needs. No referral needed.

03.01.2022 Very proud to be supporting kids sport. Nautilus Orthopaedics QLD is the major sponsor of Fraser Flames (Fraser Coast Anglican College) Sports. Look out for our logo at school sports competitions across the Fraser Coast.
