24.01.2022 Premolar extractions are commonplace in orthodontics, and are used to created the needed space to align the remaining teeth for improved function and aesthetics. The corollary is often we see a loss of lip support. Here, we opted to remove the third molars instead and retract the upper and lower dental arches. Skeletal anchorage @ Perth, Western Australia

22.01.2022 Are you or a loved one considering orthodontic care? Braces, Clear Aligners (eg Invisalign) and the associated appliances are simply tools for an orthodontist to use. In the same way that pencils and paints are used by an artist to create a work of art, an Orthodontist uses braces and other appliances to create beautiful smiles. The end result of your orthodontic treatment is ultimately determined by the skill and expertise of your Orthodontist. So ask about the Orthodontist...s qualifications and experience in providing treatment. Some other questions to pose: Is the practice utilising the latest technology? There have been significant advances in orthodontic technology in recent years which allows an Orthodontist to deliver better results faster. Is the practice completely digitised? Does it incorporate the latest orthodontic technology such as 3D imaging, digital models, on-site radiographs, integrated practice management and imaging software. Ask for a detailed explanation of what technology is utilised to deliver exceptional results in the least amount of time. are you receiving the attention you deserve? Communication plays a critical role in your orthodontic treatment program, particularly when you will be seeing your orthodontic team on a regular basis over the course of 1 -2 years. Did the Orthodontist clearly explain your diagnosis and treatment plan? How did the clinical and admin staff make you feel?

21.01.2022 Just over six months ago, we celebrated Josh’s older sister, Liv, and her brand new smile. Today, it was this incredible young man’s turn. Josh just clocked up 13 months wearing braces, and his teeth and smile are simply sensational . We removed his braces today and are blown away just how perfectly his teeth have been arranged. It’s been the most wonderful privilege to witness Josh develop into the confident, self-assured young man that stands next to me. A huge expression of gratitude to his mother, Yien, who drives 2.5 hours each way for his appointment, and always has a smile on her face, a great story to share, and brightens our day.

20.01.2022 Orthodontics requires a precise understanding of complex biomechanical principles. What are the qualifications and experience of your Orthodontist? What is thei...r track record in delivering exceptional orthodontic outcomes? Dr Siva has trained at leading institutions including UWA, the University of Sydney and Harvard University and Boston Childrens Hospital. He has also undertaken advanced study with one of the worlds leading biomechanical experts, Dr Giorgio Fiorelli, in Italy in 2015, and they have recently co-authored a textbook on Orthodontic Biomechanics. 14.01.2022 Clear Aligners & space closure? The impossible made possible by using the @benedictwilmes Benefit System and Mesialslider Appliance. Quite literally, moving teeth and the profession forward. Check out the latest published article in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics advancing the art and science of orthodontics. Managing missing teeth with Invisalign is very challenging. This approach utilises micro-implants together with Invisalign to achieve excellent treatment outcomes for patients.

14.01.2022 Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward collective objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. Small or peg-shaped lateral teeth can provide a functional and aesthetic dental challenge to conquer. Dr John Winters at First Smiles @first.smiles and I collaborated on this complex surgical, restorative and orthodontic case, using palatal implants, CAD-CAM technology and customised appliances. The end result, one happy young lady.

13.01.2022 Ten years ago, a vision was conceived to deliver the highest standards of excellence in our profession. Yesterday, we celebrated the team that made this a reali...ty. 12.01.2022 If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,... Or being lied about, dont deal in lies, Or being hated, dont give way to hating, And yet dont look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dreamand not make dreams your master; If you can thinkand not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth youve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: Hold on! If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kingsnor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything thats in it, Andwhich is moreyoull be a Man, my son!

08.01.2022 Impacted teeth can hide below the surface and often do damage without you realising. This is why it is so important to have a full consultation with an orthodontist before starting your treatment!

08.01.2022 EXERCISES IN ORTHODONTIC BIOMECHANICSIn December 2019 I was writing: Hello friends, it has been a rather long time with no posts on this page, too many trips, courses and little time for Facebook. In the meanwhile, we have started the sale of the Exercise book, Here is exercise 45... it is not really difficult once you know the right procedures.

08.01.2022 Ectopic eruption of a first permanent molar is a common occurrence in the developing mixed dentition. Proper management is a challenge, but crucial to a healthy... occlusion. Non-treatment can result in the early loss of the second primary (baby) molar, space loss, and the impaction of the upper second premolar teeth. The early loss of baby teeth can result in the molars moving forward and encroaching upon the space reserved for the unerupted adult teeth in the front (anterior) of the mouth. Utilizing sophisticated biomechanic techniques and customized appliances, Dr Siva was able to move this young patients molars backwards (aka molar distalisation) to create the space necessary for all of the adult teeth to sit in perfect alignment in the arch. A superb outcome for a very complex orthodontic case. #seetheexpert @ Jandakot, Western Australia

06.01.2022 The most important opportunity for living "our best life" is the ability to collaborate and work with great people. The people we surround ourselves with are the biggest influence on our behavior, attitudes and results. Who you are around what theyve got you thinking, saying, doing and becoming sets the course of your life. In the words of motivational speaker Jim Rohn:... You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. The people you spend the most time with shape who you are. They determine what conversations dominate your attention. They affect to which attitudes and behaviors you are regularly exposed. Eventually you start to think like they think and behave like they behave. As Darren Hardy writes in The Compound Effect: According to research by social psychologist Dr. David McClelland of Harvard, [the people you habitually associate with] determine as much as 95 percent of your success or failure in life. Thats huge. And it has important consequences. The dream in your heart may be bigger than the environment in which you find yourself. Sometimes you have to get out of that environment to see that dream fulfilled. I am so privileged and humbled to be able to collaborate with the giants of my profession Dr Simon Graf from Switzerland, and Professor Benedict Wilmes from the University of Dusseldorf, Germany.

06.01.2022 My four year old captured this moment out at lunch yesterday. It’s a picture of someone who is blessed beyond his measure. He gets to work over sixty hours a week in a role he loves, trains over 15 hours a week in worthwhile pursuits of physical endeavour, and comes home everyday to a house filled with just the right combination of love and craziness. Does he get tired? Sure. It’s a small price for an extraordinary life beyond all expectation. Remember, rest and self-care ...is important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to more fully serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel. Enjoy your long weekend. I hope you get to spend it with your most cherished.
