21.01.2022 According to Healthdirect, 4 in 10 Australian adults don't get enough sleep and feel tired as a result. Many of us also think that we're getting enough sleep but don't realise that we're not getting quality sleep which means that we still feel tired. So what is quality sleep? According to the Sleep Foundation, the key determinants of quality sleep are:... - Sleeping more time while in bed (at least 85 percent of the total time) - Falling asleep in 30 minutes or less - Waking up no more than once per night; and - Being awake for 20 minutes or less after initially falling asleep. Some ways of making sure that you get a good night of quality sleep include optimising your bedroom, not eating late at night and reassessing your alcohol intake. You can see more ways to get better sleep here: https://www.healthline.com/nutriti/17-tips-to-sleep-better If sleep is an issue for you, talk to one our GPs, they can help. #qualitysleep #selfcare #yourfamilydoctor
