16.01.2022 We've had an interesting question from one of our clients in relation to the Hendra Vaccination. 'If I was only to vaccinate my performance horses (the ones that leave the property) and not the others, and if there was an outbreak of Hendra on my property, would my vaccinated horses be destroyed'? The Hendra Virus is present in the NT and appears to be here to stay. The best form of protection for you and your horses is to have them vaccinated against this virus.... However, in relation to this question. Those horses with 'up to date' vaccinations would not be destroyed. Those horses who showed signs of disease or antibodies showing they had been exposed to the disease then those animals would be destroyed.
