25.01.2022 It's annoying to know that I've had this disease for so long, but my pain was considered a normal part of womanhood. Endometriosis is a common gynaecological problem affecting women of reproductive age, with studies showing around 10 - 20%. It occurs when the tissues of the uterus start growing on surfaces of other organs in the pelvis. It does affect your ability to get pregnant and can be treated. We don't talk about these issues enough ladies! I believe it is important that as women we get more comfortable discussing women's health topics, among ourselves, with our loved ones, or with a specialist doctor. Part of my role is to create a nurturing and safe environment where it is okay to talk about your period, your cycle, or women's health in general.

25.01.2022 Sleep Such an undervalued health habit. 7-8 hours per night CONSISTENTLY is what to aim for. There is no making it up with a sleep-in on Sunday morning. Sleep helps with: weight loss cardiovascular health... cancer prevention repair and recovery of musculoskeletal injury mental health ...just to name a few things So plan your sleep just like you plan your day. Figure out what time you need to get up and reverse engineer it to know what time to get to bed. #wellnesswednesday

17.01.2022 When you have irregular pain or your cycle is all over the place, don't just cast it aside. It's always best to chat to your doctor about it. Abnormalities in menstrual cycle of woman is called as menstrual irregularities. Various menstrual irregularities include: Amenorrhea Can be if reached 16yo and never occurred (primary) or absence of menstrual period for 3 consecutive months without pregnancy (secondary)... Dysmenorrhoea Painful menstruation periods Menorrhagia Excessive bleeding which lasts for 8 to 10 days Oligomenorrhoea Extended periods of time (eg 60 days) without a period Premature ovarian failure Normal function of the ovary is stopped Symptoms observed in patients with menstrual irregularities include burning while urinating, fever, painful bowel movements, vaginal discharge, painful cramps, and lower back pain. Menstrual irregularities should be diagnosed early to prevent complications such as infertility (inability to get pregnant), anaemia, haemorrhage, and uterine cancer.

17.01.2022 Having seen thousands of men and women who tried to fall pregnant, I often come across the same reasons for apparent infertility. Get my free eBook to see what you can do about it '5 reasons you’re not getting pregnant'. Go to https://drtamarahunter.com.au to download this from my website.

13.01.2022 Understanding women's health, or questions and issues in regards to your menstrual cycle, is absolutely critical for a specialist gynaecologist and the treatment of PCOS. I also believe it is critical that as women we get more comfortable discussing these women's health topics, among ourselves, with our loved ones, or with a specialist doctor. Part of my role is to create a nurturing and safe environment where it is okay to talk about your period, or women's health in general.

11.01.2022 The fertility conversation is not just for women. If you are not ready right now to have a family but would love one in the future, your fella might like to think about sperm freezing. This is common in the instance of cancer treatment, undergoing a vasectomy or to support IVF efforts if he is a FIFO worker. Talk to our team in Perth today about the options available. 11.01.2022 What an intriguing afternoon....... Meet Harry. As a child he was shot in the eye with a bow and arrow (the story was so much more impressive). An amazing paediatric ophthalmologist Dr Mary Bremner went on to save his eye (although it doesn’t work now) and inspired a young man to explore the world of optics and become an expert in the care an maintenance of microscopes, slit lamps and colposcopes (you will only understand that if you work with bugs, eyes or cervices). ... In my search for a colposcope I visited his workshop...and experienced the excitable curiosity of a kid, exploring his museum of hundred year old slit lamps, optical glasses and other medical equipment - and hearing the stories of how he acquired them. What an extraordinary and quirky man! And what a gloriously unexpected afternoon of nerdy fun!! It’s amazing how a life experience can become the fabric of your life’s pursuit! #lemonadeoutoflemons

10.01.2022 There is nothing more important to a gal than having her gal-pals to support her and lift her up. For this juggling career mumma it is often my gal-pals who remind me to keep it real, that I am human, that being imperfect is just perfect and that I am loved no matter what. Here’s to all our gal-pals

And next to my biological ones this is the most GORGEOUS and PRECIOUS baby ever rai...sed (yup I am a biased proud mumma). It could not have happened without the incredibly hard work of all of our staff and WOOM-team and my ever-patient and simply brilliant husband Mike Simpson, but 2 people who have always believed in me, always believed in my dreams and have always been my pit crew are my gorgeous and hard working parents Bronwyn Hunter and John Hunter. They are incredible human beings and have instilled in me some values I am proud of - resilience, hard work, perfection, compassion and most of all PASSION.
