25.01.2022 Happy 1st birthday to this divine little cherub, Rosalia! Looks like you had a lovely celebration (even if in iso at home). So many presents. Thanks for sharing the pic Diana and Justin. We love receiving these photos!

24.01.2022 This is Dr Kevin Fagan. Like my grandfather Dr John FJ Cade he served in WW2 and was taken as prisoner and continued as a doctor within the Changi prison camp and infamous Burma railway. Looking after those pictured in the second photograph. While we are in lockdown remember his words (this experience) gave me a greater understanding of humankind. And great appreciation of ordinary things in life: bread and butter, a bit of jam on your toast in the mornings, a glass of beer ...when you’re thirsty. And, the value of human relations. You know when it comes to the end, the only thing that really matters, are the people whom you love and the people who love you. You cannot place a price, qualitatively or quantitatively, on the absolute need for human interaction and personal freedom. Very young people have absolutely willingly died for this in the past.

22.01.2022 A big Happy 1st Birthday to this cutie pie, Ruby! Looks like big sister Ava thinks she’s pretty special too. What gorgeous girls @drlanasurgeon and impressive cake.

20.01.2022 We can’t believe Ethan has turned 1 already. Happy Birthday buddy. What an incredible party setup!!! Well deserved for a master of sleeping through the night (it’s pretty rare for children under 1). Congratulations again May and Andrew.

16.01.2022 Baby Florence you are absolutely exquisite, welcome to the world. Congratulations to parents Erika and Scott, and big sister Vivienne on her arrival. Erika was kind enough to write some words for us to share with this post. Thank you so so much, it was a pleasure to care for you all. @erikajdouglas After our great experience with our firstborn Vivienne once we fell pregnant again we had no hesitation contacting Tom. I’m sure everyone is finding it tough under the current cir...cumstances: I have struggled at times with the added anxiety of the pregnancy and birth not being how I imagined given the ever changing government regulations (let’s blame the pregnancy hormones ). Poor Tom had to deal with me in tears at his office at one appointment, the worry of who could attend my labour and how babysitting my first daughter would work was getting to me. Tom spent a lot of time reassuring me that he would be our advocate and taking me through covid and Australian hospital capabilities, as well as some suggestions for our hospital stay all of which were very welcomed and reassuring. Onto the main event: Tom had come into hospital to check as natural labour was progressing very slowly, and we decided we would reassess how it was progressing by the next morning to give nature some time to work. I awoke before 6am the next morning to Tom’s face by my bedside, he quietly mentioned when I asked why he was back so early that he had been worried he had missed a call from the nurses and hadn’t slept the best checking his phone which I think shows just how much he cares about his patients! I would recommend Tom to any expectant Mummas as he is caring, knowledgeable and shows a genuine interest in his patients and their families (including our many chats on the Dees poor form!).

15.01.2022 How adorable is Christian? He’s grown so much Maria & Terry. Such a handsome fella, and clearly adored by his big brother Roman. Thanks for the photos!!

15.01.2022 Wishing dear Zachary a very happy 1st birthday! Congratulations again to parents Sana and Renato, what a year it’s been. Renato owns the best ice cream/dessert franchise in Melbourne, and looks like Zachary is enjoying the benefits for his birthday.

15.01.2022 Check out the latest Podcast for FitNest Mama: Healthy Pregnancy & Strong Recovery Podcast with Kath Baquie. Here I speak with Kath about gestational diabetes and why you shouldn’t feel guilty if diagnosed. https://www.fitnestmama.com//why-pregnant-women-shouldn't-

14.01.2022 Wishing gorgeous Audrey a very happy 1st birthday!! What a beautiful little angel, and so solid in her feet at only one year old. Understandable that brother Noah adores her (and her singing!). Congratulations Kellie and Shaun.

10.01.2022 Wishing dear Grace a very happy 1st birthday. The time has flown. How cute is that palm tree ponytail? She is adorable!

09.01.2022 Welcome to the world baby Charlie. Such a handsome boy. Big congratulations to parents Elizabeth and Leigh. Charlie is their third child and their first boy. Balancing up the numbers a bit for Leigh! We look forward to seeing you all at the 6 week appointment.

09.01.2022 Congratulations to Siobhan and Braydin on the arrival of dear baby Emilia. She is absolutely exquisite, look at those eyes, what a little doll. We can’t believe she’s sleeping through the night at three months (very lucky parents!) long may it continue.

07.01.2022 Congratulations to Andrea and Peter on the arrival of gorgeous baby Tom. Great name! Dr Tom looks pretty pleased about the choice too (& still all smiles 6 weeks later - swipe ). Peter is actually a fellow doctor and archery master - a formidable combination, big shoes for baby Tom to fill.

06.01.2022 An interesting read from the father of ICU working in the heart of the European pandemic. Amongst many salient points, there are two that stood out to me. Firstly, there are no longer enough critically unwell patients to complete clinical trials into treatments. Good that less people are suffering but bad that these potential treatments are still unanswered in efficacy (and cannot be rolled out now in Australia). Secondly, the most important metric, by far, is the number hospitalised in critical care. And the converse: the number who have been in this situation and recovered over a relevant timeframe. These data should have much more focus in reporting.

06.01.2022 Victoria’s extreme lockdown makes for some creative activities to pass the time. One might be reading some of those classic books you always thought you should. I just knocked off Wuthering Heights by Ellis Bell (better known as Emily Bronte, who died, ironically of a severe respiratory illness, aged 30). Described by many as the greatest love story of all time, I couldn’t help but read a story of revenge and brutality. It struck me as a novel that portrayed the potential o...f the base human spirit to seek revenge rather than love and also of the extreme importance of imbuing children with the values you hold in greatest importance. The neglect in the novel seemed to affect both the first generation (Heathcliffe, Hindley and Catherine) and the oft movie-ignored second generation (Cathy, Linton and Hareton). Strangely, the second generation turned the corner and rediscovered kindness but the first did not. Time to diverge from virus prognostications. I’d be interested in anyone that’s read this one and has some thoughts. Or some other favourite novels.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to Steph and Rocky on the arrival of your gorgeous second daughter, Daniella, and congratulations also to (now) big sister Ariana. Additionally, wanted to note that, until recently, Rocky owned and ran the best fruit and veg shop in Balwyn. So wishing him congratulations on the sale and best of luck with his next work endeavor! Exciting times ahead.

05.01.2022 Two further images from the article I recently referenced...

05.01.2022 The Cade girls wearing their new pink pyjamas compliments of Liz and Leigh Schwarm! It’s been a real pleasure looking after you guys over the last 5 years. Two daughters and a son (Master Charlie) later. What a special journey. Thank you for the amazing gift!

04.01.2022 Happy 1st birthday gorgeous girl Darcey. This birthday setup is the stuff of dreams. Lucky girl! We hope you had a magical day.

02.01.2022 Welcome baby Alexis and congratulations to new parents Penelope and George. She’s absolutely exquisite!! !

02.01.2022 Whether you agree with the approach taken by the Victorian government or not, it is only reasonable to hear both sides of an argument before making a final decision. Any approach that silences a dissenting point of view either implies that the general population are too stupid to make up their own opinion or there is something to hide. Brendan O’Neill is a UK based journalist and in this podcast interviews an eminent professor of pathology with a PhD in physiology who opposes... the principle of lockdown for virus control. This is, no doubt, clearly an opinion in extreme opposition to what Victoria is doing but such opinions deserve an airing. The contrary, pro-lockdown opinion also deserves an airing (there are many examples around). People should be allowed to make up their own mind and post whatever opinion they wish on their own social media fora. Brendan’s written pieces and podcasts are deliberately confronting but intriguing and are highly recommended.

01.01.2022 How divine is Leonardo! Born during Melbourne’s first lockdown. What a time to arrive. Thanks for the photos Adriana. He is absolutely gorgeous.
