19.01.2022 Can I have Delayed cord clamping( DCC) with a caesarean section?DCC can still be practised if you have a caesarean section, whether it is planned or an emergency and is becoming very common practice at hospitals which recognise the benefits of delayed cord clamping. Do talk to your obstetrician about this. Arecent study showed when you delay cord clamping by 30 seconds in a cesarean section, the baby has higher iron reserves at 4 months than those who had their cords clamped early via vaginal delivery. In fact, it found that these caesarean delivered babies, whose cord clamping were delayed by 30 seconds had iron statuses comparable with those whose cs with delayed cord clamping was delayed by 3 minutes after vaginal delivery.
