22.01.2022 This is the second short clip taken from Simon Wagstaff 's Vintage Drum Show Clinic I presented last year. In response to a question from the great drummer Garr...y Allcock. This is a brief explanation of a Cascara Latin beat and it's possible application to funk drumming. This involves- Sticking application, independence, stepped hi hat open and close control, Afro Cuban influence , accent control, ghost notes, internal dynamics and improvisation. I am currently teaching online like so many of my professional colleagues. Get in touch if your'e interested in studying with me. Thanks to Garry Allcock for use of his Slingerland Radio King. Simon Wagstaff for the invite. Matthew Green for support. James Cumpsty for the video and sound. Geoff Nicholls from Rhythm Magazine.Leah Bullock for editing. See more
