Does it reflect your organisation? Does your language in your brochures match up with the language in your social media? Does it match up to what you say and do at an event? Take some time to review what you’re saying and how you’re saying it. Extra tip: When writing, I always like to picture the audience I’m writing ...for. If my client’s key audience is a woman in her 50- 60s, I’ll pop in the name of someone I know who fits that category and I’ll write to them. This is especially helpful if you’re writing fundraising letters. 01.01.2022 Australians love to give in a crisis and that’s one of the many things we love about this country. You might have seen links shared for charities to donate to and maybe you’re wondering - how do I choose a good one? Here are some things to think about when giving in a crisis (especially in a country that’s foreign to you): LEGACY - How long has the organisation been around? Have they just popped up in the emergency or have they been working in the country for a while?... CONNECTIONS - Do they already have the connections and framework in the community to do the work they want to do? Do they already understand the people and culture? Do they work with other reputable organisations? ACCOUNTABILITY - Have they got a Board or a group that they are accountable to? Where is the money they raise going? Is it clear and transparent? What will they do with excess funds? HEART - How do they talk about their work? Check out their social media and website to see what they do and how they do it. Do they talk about people with dignity and heart? I hope these help you find an amazing charity to give to.
