22.01.2022 Our new College Law Library is finally open and ready to use... perfectly timed for the upcoming exam period. Drummond & Smith is the only residential College at the University of New England, Armidale with its own Law Library. Thanks to a recent $10,000 refurbishment, we now have a brand new study facility with improved work areas, super fast WiFi, IT facilities and a high definition projector. The comprehensive collection of books, some dating back to 1865, in the law libra...ry was donated by The Hon Justice R.F. Smart to D&S College in 2008. It soon became the hub of activity for many law students within the College, as well as the heart of the Drummond & Smith Law Society. If you are a future law student, an academic in the UNE School of Law or a non-college student, contact the us to organise a visit. We'd be happy to welcome you.

07.01.2022 Drummond College was established in 1969 at the University of New England, Armidale. When two blocks became available for occupation in 1968, women were housed in one and men in the other. With a request from these students, the University Council resolved to formally constitute Drummond College as the first mixed College at UNE. With a third block open in 1969, the College housed 109 women and 44 men. Drummond College was designed in 1967 by Peter Hall, Peter Webber and Leslie Reedman, who also designed Duval College and Earle Page College, as well as many academic buildings for the campus. 02.01.2022 On this day... in 1977: 38 years ago, on 5th August 1977, before they released their first album, Cold Chisel performed at Drummond College at the University of New England, Armidale. Perhaps this was not so surprising as you might think... One of the band members, Don Walker, studied Physics in Armidale. He moved to Adelaide to take up a position with the Weapons Research Department in 1973 (co-forming Cold Chisel in the process), then moved back to Armidale to complete his... honours degree in quantum mechanics in 1974 (his bandmates wound up following him), before finally moving back to Adelaide in 1975 to rejoin Cold Chisel.
