20.01.2022 **Member's Cash Draw Update** As we navigate a new phase of Covid restrictions, we would like to thank all of our Members for their cooperation and understanding. We are doing everything possible to ensure the health and safety of all those who enter the Club, and to give ourselves every opportunity to continue operating. With the safety of our Members in mind, we have decided to extend the jackpot amount of our Member’s draw to $10,000. This means we will continue jackpotting the draw for another 20 weeks in the hope that restrictions will ease so that all our valued Members can be involved.

19.01.2022 Hi All, very pleased to announce that the Drummoyne Sailing Club Sailing Academy is now offering Keelboat Courses - available to book now. Recently added to our Discover Sailing Centre the Start Crewing and Start Helming courses are the introductory keelboat courses in the Australian Sailing Pathways program. We have been generously given the use of of the RS21 small keelboat by the Australian Distributor - Sailing Raceboats - and are using this ideal training boat to spearhe...ad our new course offering. The RS21 is an ideal training boat - safe and stable, light and easy to handle, and with exciting performance. We have also raced the boat in recent West Harbour series and it has performed very well. 17.01.2022 On Friday 8 May 2020, the Federal Government announced a national three step plan to relax coronavirus restrictions, and in NSW we saw the first step of the Government restrictions being relaxed last Friday 15 May, including the first stage of easing of restrictions for Restaurants and Cafes. Whilst this is a positive step for the community and the road to reopening in full, it is unfortunately not viable for Drummoyne Sailing Club at this stage and we regret to advise Member...s that Drummoyne Sailing Club will continue to remain closed until closed until further restrictions are lifted. The Board of Directors and Management team are working very hard in the background whilst we are closed in developing and implementing a range of practices that will provide a COVID safe environment for all Members and Guests. We will continue to keep you updated as the situation evolves and hope all our Members are continuing to keep healthy and safe at this time. We look forward to seeing all of you back at your Club again soon.

This means we are very excited to announce the return of our Thursday night trivia - run by the infamous John Spies ... You won’t want to miss this opportunity to be rewarded for showing off your trivia skills!

12.01.2022 Sailing coaches last Thursday got busy auditing and maintaining the Club's fleet of training Sabots in preparation for next season. All the boats were rigged up to ensure that they would be ready to put in the water and sail as soon as we can. The Sabot training fleet includes some veteran boats acquired from Vaucluse Sailing Club many years ago. These boats had already been in service for some years before arriving at Drummoyne. ... As can be imagined, some knocks and bangs have occurred during learn-to-sail training and early competitive training. Interestingly , most of the damage seems to have occurred on the port bows of the boats. How could this be? Maybe there are lessons for all of us here... The team of Maddy Dwyer, Haylee Kellam and Sam Clay together with Sailing Manager Peter Robinson did an excellent job inspecting the boats including pressure testing buoyancy tanks and high pressure cleaning the hulls. More work was done by this team clearing out the various storage spaces in the shed. There was an astounding amount of arcane stuff buried in the deepest, darkest corners of the shed. Much of this was consigned to the skip bin but there were also significant treasure troves of really useful stuff that will be useful in the future. Full marks to the team for doing a really great job that will make a difference to future sailing at our club.

01.01.2022 The DSC eSailing Club Championship was run today with all competitors well spaced and safely distanced in the comfort of their own homes. Although only a few entries, we had some fierce competition across five races. Congratulations to the winner - Sean Inkley in _floata clearly a fast (virtual) J/70. Sean is more usually known as the owner of the DSC yacht Hanalei and will be nominated to Australian Sailing for the next round of the Zhik eSailing Championships the States... next weekend. A close second was Dave Haseldine in one of the two (very) yellow J/70s Hazo only one point behind. Third on the podium was Simon Armstrong-Bunker in the other yellow entry Captain Webb. Just off the podium was Nick von Behr with a win in race 2. Well done to everyone! I think that the Virtual Regatta platform is great a good interface and racing was challenging and fair. I look forward to being able to run more of these as we’re restricted from competing on the actual harbour.
