21.01.2022 From Tom: Paul Grilley’s work (see the amazing photos in this post) on helping people understand that not everyone is built the same (and no one is built ‘like ...the books’) calls us all to stop trying to fit every human form into the same ‘proper’ rules for movement. Some are built differently. An older post but very much worth revisiting. See more

13.01.2022 Always did this for my kids, only a lot slower.

13.01.2022 From Lauri Nemetz We’ve been following Dr. Helene Langevin’s work in cancer and fascia research with great interest, particularly her new paper entitled "Stret...ching Reduces Tumor Growth in a Mouse Breast Cancer Model. (Scientific Reports volume 8, Article number: 7864(2018) ) Check out the link of the "stretching method" to the original article in the link below. Looks like a lengthening of the Superficial Front Line. This makes a case for movement in general whether human or mouse- our modern environments restrict our need to reach, etc. and makes the importance of yoga and other forms of movement perhaps more critical for those facing cancer. "'We know, generally, that physical activity is beneficial in cancer patients but not why that is,' says Dr. Langevin, who is director of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and co-corresponding author of the published report. 'Gentle stretching is something that many cancer patients not only can do but enjoy doing. We wanted to develop a preclinical model that could help us study the effects of stretching on tumor growth and, if safe and effective, be translated into a regimen for humans.’"
