25.01.2022 Kimberley COVID-19 Update Good morning all. The recent announcements from government are certainly causing a very positive buzz up this way with movements acros...s the border permitted to occur without the need for self-quarantine, unless you have been in NSW or VIC. Here are some things to consider as the border is not fully open, we are moving to a ‘controlled’ border entry requirements on 14 November 2020; Every person entering still needs to complete a G2G Pass. This is to be able to identify those who have been in NSW or VIC. If you arrive without a G2G you cannot enter. TIP: apply for a G2G days prior to entry to allow time for the application to be processed. Every person who enters up to midnight on 13 November needs to complete 14 days self-quarantine (SQ). You must be aware if you do come across before then you still have to do the full 14 days SQ even past the date 14 November. This means if you came across between now and 14th you will be in SQ when others who come across on 14 November or after don't have to. It’s up to yourselves but you might want to stay interstate until 14 November so you don’t have to SQ at all if you have only been to the safe States. There will be health checks upon entry as the COVID virus is still a danger to us all. Remote Aboriginal Communities are still close except for a very small number. Anyone travelling into the Kimberley needs to plan their trip to make sure you are not entering restricted communities as heavy penalties still apply to these types of breaches. On a very serious note I am, like many of you, very nervous about the COVID virus entering the Kimberley. Now more than ever is the time to really focus on practising social distancing and continue to practice very good hygiene. It has dropped off across the State but with many people expected from the other states we all have a responsibility to look after ourselves and others and it’s as simple as staying 1.5m away from others and washing your hands frequently not too hard for any of us to maintain. If we do this, then we know if COVID does get in we can limit the spread quite easily. Please talk about this with others, actually practice the health advise so we are not responsible for any outbreak to our community, friends or loved ones. Greg Crofts Kimberley District Superintendent.
