22.01.2022 Greetings Everyone! This year so far has been full of unexpected outcomes and challenges. Regardless we all successfully finished out Autumn online semester. As a society, we tried our best to engage our members through various digital platforms and we are very pleased to know the feedback so far has been positive. Since we are moving onto the next semester with eased off restrictions and campus reactivation plans, we hope to host even better events both face to face and onl...ine. Our society has grown substantially in the past few months and we are seeking to expand our executive team. Currently, we are looking for some highly motivated individuals to our events and engagement team. The following are the roles that are vacant with details on what is expected. Events Coordinator: Responsibilities: -Submitting an event booking form to Activate UTS. -Room Booking. -Catering services. -Proposing innovative Event Ideas that could improve student experience and engagement. -Budget Plan for Events. -Events Support. -Assessing Risk and creating reports. Ability to work with the event coordinator and help in any kind of event activities. Propose any new ideas that can help improve the existing event plans and improvise the Events coordinators viewpoint. Social Media: Responsibilities: Managing all social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Discord. Content creation with respect to different social media platforms. Proposing new ways to Promote Events. Designing Posters for every event according to the event description. Prior skills in designing (Adobe) would be a plus point but not mandatory. So, why not do something productive yet exciting related to your major The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) along with other companies pulled together coalition research to prepare the COVID-19 open research Dataset to attempt to address some key questions on COVID-19 that are drawn from NASEM and WHO. 11.01.2022 Greetings to all the new members! We would first like to thank you all for joining our newly formed society and showing your interest in the vast field of Data and Artificial Intelligence. We cannot contain our excitement for what we have planned for you guys for this semester to help you prosper in this unique area of Information Technology. ... Here is a quick summary of the events that are being run this semester! Networking Night (Week 2, Date/Time TBA) We are kickstarting this semester with a Networking night where you get to meet all the students who are currently studying Data Analytics, AI and other IT majors across the faculty. We will also be joined by our Alumnis who are already doing an amazing job outside the University. Data Arena Tour (Week 3, Date/Time TBA) The second event will explore more into how UTS is visualising BIG DATA and implementing AI in partnership with corporations, government bodies and researchers. This will be a 2x30 mins session in the Data Arena at B11. Datathon (Date/time TBA) This will be our version of a HACKATHON where you will be solving Machine learning related problems. Submitting predictions, leading to prizes for the winners. This will have a timeframe of completion and everyone gets a deadline to finalise their solutions. Workshops (Week 5 & 6, Date/Time TBA) A workshop held by our own executives and faculty staff to provide you some great information on Data where you get to learn to predict prices using structured data. 09.01.2022 To all our members who have given their full support and interest to our society over the past weeks! As you must be aware that UTS is temporarily pausing all the classes as a social distancing initiative from Coronavirus. Due to this we have made some changes to our current schedule. Our networking event has been temporarily cancelled and we might host this event sometime in the near future based on the severity of the current situation. We will be conducting online work...shops for this semester with live Q&A sessions. Practice material and other sources to learn basics on Python in ML will be provided after the online workshops. Finally, we will be hosting a competition on Kaggle or on UTS campus in week 10. This will be finalised soon and we will update you accordingly. As promised and from your positive feedback, we are starting our second online event of the semester from this Stuvac! The Day 1 of the Online workshop series will kickstart on 23/04/2020 Thursday from 6 pm - 7 pm. The following workshop will focus on Intro to Machine Learning using regression techniques. This suits perfectly for first year students who are new to Data Science and AI. However, if you already have prior experience it would be great to have you for your personal thoughts and insights into the topic or as a refresher. We will be doing more workshops in the coming weeks and will tailor it to your needs. Make sure you tune in on Thursday, we will be sending emails to all the members for registration and zoom links. 08.01.2022 Greetings to the Data Science and AI family. We are thrilled and excited to announce our first ever Kaggle competition for 2020. This competition is based on classification problem and the participants will be given a data set from which they need to find the factors affecting a countrys evolution and also find answers for some questions.... We have proudly invited Dr. Mahendra Samarawickrama (Manager of Data Science and Analytics) at Australian Red Cross as the judge for this competition. The competition itself will run for 2 weeks starting tonight. 05.01.2022 ***NEW EVENT ALERT*** Since Spring session has already kickstarted for everyone! We also hereby announce you our first event for this semester, NETWORKING NIGHT.... The event will be online and hosted through zoom on Wednesday 12/08/20 6pm - 7pm. Whats happening? The night will start with casual introductions amongst all members and execs. We will be using breakout rooms and Annotations functions to make the night more engaging amongst the members. Finally, the event will be joined by some industry experts from the field of Data science and AI. There will be a series of pre organised questions and Q/A session at the end to help with your doubts and curiosity.
