17.01.2022 Pak Meng to Palian, 78kms. Day three of CyclePower was a real mixture of stunning backroads, undulating hills, towns and highways in hot humid conditions that was a real test for all of the riders. If it wasn’t already hot enough, some of the crew even braved the hot springs during one of the breaks, with one pool almost 54 degrees! Looking forward to a rest day tomorrow that includes kayaking and swimming at a nearby island.

11.01.2022 After a well deserved rest day that saw many of the group visit a nearby island for kayaking and swimming (that included overcoming a few challenges but ultimately proving that many issues or barriers to activities and experiences can be overcome), day four of the cycling component of CyclePower 2019 was another incredible day - 72kms. The ride began by exploring the coastal roads from Pak Bara and finished at the town of Satun after experiencing many incredible sights and sounds along the ever undulating smooth roads of Thailand. The crew were kept amused by the ongoing antics of experienced CyclePower participants Gary and Ray, with their many hijynks, while the Spice Roads support team continued to show great care and attention for all of our riders including the four with disability.

05.01.2022 Day five of riding featured our last 40km ride in Thailand in hot humid conditions. We farewelled and thanked our Thai support crew at the border, followed by a massive hill climb shortly after entering Malaysia that proved a real test for all the riders. Thankfully the downhill was fun followed by further stunning scenery until our stop for the day at Alor Setar. Satun to Alor Setar, 80kms.

04.01.2022 The CyclePower 2019 challenge has been achieved! On day six of cycling, all eight riderssuccessfully crossed the line in Merbok River, Malaysia after riding 79km from Alor Setar where they experienced the first wet conditions of the trip. The day wasn’t easy though with another challenging hill climb, however the scenery along the coastal roads and the stunningly green rural rice fields more than made up for it.... There was much celebrating and a sense of achievement at the end from all of the CyclePower crew as each rider had pushed themselves to their limits at some point along the 480km journey that began way back in Phuket. The ride once again demonstrated that anything is possible for people with disability with the right support and attitude. Big thanks to the Spice Roads Cycling organisation who lead the tour and also the support back home from all who donated to CyclePower 2019 and sponsors Lions Club International and San Pellegrino. Over the next few days, we will be taking a rest from the riding but still pushing the boundaries of tourism for people with disability by visiting Georgetown, Penang and Kuala Lumpur. Donations still accepted at https://donate.grassrootz.com/dsr/cyclepower-2019 and let us know if you would like to be involved in CyclePower 2020!

01.01.2022 Day two was very hot out on the roads but the crew worked hard and encouraged each other to get to the destination point. It always helps when there's glorious scenery and a visit to an incredible temple! Krabi to Pak Meng, 88km.
