09.01.2022 DT Dental - Who are we? Unlike most dental clinics, DT Dental is not a corporate clinic nor is it run by health insurance companies. DT Dental only consists of 2 team members Dr. Donald Tingey and Amanda Jane so you will always see the same dentist at every appointment and get to know us on a more relaxed personal level. At DT Dental you are not treated like a number, Dr. Tingey will always allow more than enough time to complete all of your dental needs with quality and car...e. We will not try and win you over with fancy advertising and gimmicks. We will have you smiling by providing honest dentistry with your dental health being our first priority. All of our dental materials are of the highest possible standard and none of our laboratory and restorative work is made overseas. Unfortunately due to these tough economic times sometimes health providers take advantage of their position and often provide unnecessary treatment or provide dental treatment with low grade materials. 08.01.2022 Buyers beware - Facts about dental teeth whitening - by Amanda LED lights and teeth whitening - Recent studies show that the lights used in dental teeth whitening is not always necessary. It is the whitening gel that whitens your teeth.... LED lights dehydrate your teeth which creates an appearance of a more whiter smile which dissipates once the teeth have re hydrated. You should never whiten your teeth with advertised products you can purchase online. The only way to ensure the safety of your teeth, gums and general health when using a whitening product is when it is recommended by your dentist, teeth whitening can be harmful. There are a lot of acidic whitening gels on the market that can cause harm to your teeth. These gels often strip the enamel surface and creates long-term sensitivity and recession. You should never whiten your teeth without your dentists recommendation as there are many negative side effects if you are not a suitable whitening candidate. Too often i see advertisements on facebook for "home whitening kits with lights" These advertisers ARE NOT dentists and buy their whitening products very cheaply online from overseas. I often ask these "companies" what ingredients are in their whitening agents and am often shocked with their responses. One company that responded had no idea their product was selling a carbamide peroxide concentration almost double what an Australian dentist is allowed to distribute for their patients due to health and safety regulations. Whitening is an inexpensive procedure that is often partially covered by most health insurance companies. At DT-dental we only use Opalescence with is PH neutral and will not harm your enamel in anyway. You are provided with custom made whitening trays that have reservoirs so there is room for your whitening gel. Teeth whitening should be performed at home in these custom made trays over a period of 8-10 nights. This slower technique with a lower percentage gel is much more cost effective, gentle to your teeth and achieves the same result as in chair whitening procedures.
