25.01.2022 Thanks to Pete and Nat Ryan, DESA is getting a bit of work done the easy way... no shovels required!

24.01.2022 DESA day postponed. Its hard to be annoyed about the wet weather after that horrible drought but, like you all, I want DESA days to go ahead ...rain, hail or shine. I have been out to check the club grounds and unfortunately it is very wet. The prediction is for continuing rain so we have decided to postpone until the 9th of August. If you cant attend on 09.08.20 just let me know and I will arrange a refund of your entry money. On the upside this will allow our freshly dug water trench to settle and the road in to remain a bit drivable.

24.01.2022 We had a fabulous day at DESA on Monday playing with our ponies over grids and other jumping exercises. Coming events - DESA and others! 10.10.20- Jen Wood clinic.... 11.10.20- DESA rising rounds. 12.10.20 - Carlene Barton clinic 16-18.10.20 - Waratah 24.10.20- Possibly Cudgegong Jump Club day- TBA. 25.10.20 - DESA Championships. 31.10-1.11.20 - Forbes Jumping 7-8.11.20- Mudgee Showjumping 13-15.11.20- Waratah. There will be prizes for the best dressed. ....then...Join us on Saturday night at 6.30 pm at the Milestone Hotel for a Christmas get together. ...then...To round the weekend off we will be running a Belinda Lloyd- McMahon clinic on Sunday the 6th. Entries are open on Global.

20.01.2022 Hayley Cox showing us all how it is done at DESA today.

20.01.2022 The DESA Christmas ride was rather exciting as the wind nearly blew us back to Dubbo...and the rain wet our Christmas outfits. But we soldiered on and had a great time. Hannah, Minna and Dale were getting ready for the Summer Classic at SIEC but looked more like Santa’s helpers. Little Bubbles was the cutest pony but his rider legs seemed to be a bit too long.

19.01.2022 Riders were very lucky with the cooler weather for the DESA Belinda McMahon clinic today. The wild winds left branches over the arena and DESA grounds. Thank you to Kate and Steve for cleaning them up and for helping Belinda set up the jumping exercises for today. All riders enjoyed the clinic and are looking forward to more in 2021.

18.01.2022 DESA training day postponed... again. Unfortunately the trenches across the DESA arenas have subsided. The truckload of sand and crusher dust was at risk of getting bogged so we couldnt dump it on the trench. For safety reasons we have been forced to postpone our training day ...until 30.08.20. Thanks to Pete Ryan offering to use his bobcat to spread the fill we will be able to go ahead with our Matt Ryan clinic on the 15th and 16th of August and our Jen Wood clinic on 22nd and 23rd of August. Both are open on Global.

18.01.2022 We have had a fair bit of rain but the DESA training day will go ahead at 9.00am....unless it pours overnight.

17.01.2022 Here they are ...team Boree Equestrian. DESA has to thank Jen and her team for setting up the course ...before a lot of riders arrived ...and staying to help pack up. Very much appreciated!

17.01.2022 Don’t pack your ponies away just yet- DESA is still active ...until the beginning of December. What’s on:- Sunday 22.11.20 - Training Day Sunday 29.11.20- Training Day... Saturday 05-12-20 Christmas dress up riding rounds comp.... followed by Christmas dinner at the Milestone Hotel at 6.30pm Saturday night. Sunday 06-12-20 - Belinda McMahon Clinic (open on Global) You can then rest!! See more

17.01.2022 It was pouring at my place around 5:30 am so I was very surprised that the DESA Teams Challenge event went ahead today...with no rain interruptions. Because some team members couldn’t get out of there properties due to rain we decided to run a hybrid version of an accumulator and ride as individuals. The level of competitive spirit rose in Minna and Andrew Poole with beat that yelled after each ride....I think there may still be some discussion about who beat who going on.... There was some great riding as everyone challenged themselves to accumulate the most points ....and then head for The Joker. Of course in true Aussie style we all had a go....not a small ask at 10cm above the maximum height of the jumps on course. Thank you all who assisted to make this a fun day. See more

16.01.2022 Only a couple of weeks left before the DESA Matt Ryan clinic on 15th and 16th of August. As COVID begins to close competitions down again, come and have a great training weekend with an Olympic Gold medalist at DESA. Entries are open on Global.

16.01.2022 Per our COVID guidelines , those coming to the DESA Christmas fun day and the Belinda McMahon clinic will need to register using the QR code when they arrive...or now if the attached photos work for you. Entries are open on Global but will close tonight.

16.01.2022 The first day of the DESA Macquarie Jump Festival was fabulous... The cold and nasty weather didn’t deter riders from riding hard for the win. We were lucky to have been supported by the Thoroughbred Sport Horse Association in conjunction with the Dubbo Race Club to allow us to run classes tailored to off the track Thoroughbreds. After being awarded their lovely ribbons, supplied by the TSHA, all riders did laps of honour to acknowledge the value of the OTT’s in our sport. Once again the DESA Exec and supportive members have done a great job in running a competitive friendly event. We are hoping that our judge and penciller come back again tomorrow after sitting for 9 hours in the cold!!

16.01.2022 DESA Teams Event-20.09.20 Entries for the DESA fun teams day on Sunday 20.09.20 are open on Global. Round yourself up a team or we can put you in one on the day The event will run based on the style of an accumulator, so all levels of rider can make up a team of four riders. Fence number one will be the lowest and is worth 10 points....fence 12 will be the highest and worth 120 points.... There will be two jokers set up...one high - worth 200 points and one lower - worth 150 points. You choose which fences you jump....and you can jump each fence twice... unless you knock it down. You will not lose points for a knocked rail. You jump as many fences as you can in the time allowed and then head to the joker ..if you want. If you knock the joker down you will loose the equivalent points. Sounds like fun! See more

16.01.2022 More DESA Club Championships spam.... Well done Natalie Ryan on your Presidents Pick award for all the work you have done towards securing the grants that have allowed the club to make improvements and buy some great gear. Thank you. Now for more photos... and no I didn’t mean for my horses tail to matchy matchy my orange saddlecloth .. it’s called too lazy to wash the pony!!

16.01.2022 The DESA Teams Challenge fun comp is on this Sunday. Come along and join us for a canter around. Make your own team or we can organise one on the day. Enter up to 3 height classes on Global.

14.01.2022 Mudgee Show Society just held a great weekend of showjumping on the most fabulous grounds. A number of DESA members followed on from the Forbes comp and turned up for a weekend of lovely weather and great riding. Steve Edwards built encouraging courses for the younger horses in ring two while Tim Dansey challenged riders in ring one. A well run and friendly event with fabulous sponsors and perfect footing - what more could you want...besides a DESA Teams Challenge event. As... the Corridale team sayswe was robbed Congratulations to the team from the Hunter Valley for coming over and riding like champions- a very well deserved win! See more

It was so exciting watching a couple of our local riders, Jen Wood and Jess Rice-Ward riding for team Emcee. To give you an opportunity to ride in a team, DESA...conjunction with the organisers of the Forbes Showjumping comp, are kicking off the DESA TEAMS CHALLENGE. It will be run as a super two phase competition over a 90cm course. 13.01.2022 PC Riders Cup results showing DESA members placing...congratulations to all.

12.01.2022 Hoping that the work on the DESA arenas yesterday has made them both safe for riding from this weekend on. The trenches are to allow us to irrigate the arenas and to get water outlets to the Eastern side of the yards, the Southern side of the main arena and the Northern side of the practice arena. With access to water and yards ( to be put up) on the Northern side, more parking will be available. We have a few clinics that can now go ahead... Matt Ryan - 15th and 16th of Aug...ust. Carlene Barton - 17th August. Jen Wood - 22nd and 23rd August. See more

11.01.2022 The MJF full program is attached as a printable document on Global but here is a quick look at the events being run and supported by the Thoroughbred Sport Horse Association and the Dubbo Turf Club.

10.01.2022 The 2020 DESA Club Championships are done and dusted ...without the dust!! I will be posting a number of photos as they are sent to me but the first post has to be a thank you to the club members who worked so hard to allow this day to go ahead. The Exec all have there jobs and just seem to make it happen! A massive thank you to Steve Edwards for the absolutely fabulous courses. Lovely and flowing with an opportunity for the brave to have a go! Thank you to the A team ... Leanne, Peter and the backup Patrick for officiating. Thanks Bar-b-Q Andy for not only keeping us fed but for providing the office for the officials to remain dry. Thank you to our long term supporters Michael and Nicky Edwards from Furneys Horseland Dubbo for the beautiful first place rugs and prizes for all grades up to 5th place... we are very lucky! Last but not least ... thank you to all the wonderful DESA riders who support our club days - rain , hail or shine! Bring on 2021!! See more

10.01.2022 All riders had a great day of instruction with Matt Ryan yesterday. The angled vertical then 4 strides to the angled skinny fence was rather challenging but we all made it in the end. At the end of the day those camping at DESA headed out to my place to have a lovely baked dinner (cooked by the hubby)and chat with Matt. About to head out again for day 2 .

10.01.2022 Time to renew your DESA membership for the 2021 season. Just go into Global and select Clubs from their menu...choose become a member then put Dubbo in the search. 08.01.2022 A few DESA riders made the trip to SIEC last week for the last big comp of 2020- ENSW Summer Classic. We were blessed with lovely cool conditions...fabulous courses...a well run competition and some extraordinary jumping. It was great to be able to have an early ride then settle in to watch some of Australia’s best show jumpers in some nail biting classes. Congratulations to Jennifer Wood for her third place in the Mini Prix on her glorious stallion. She showed us the meaning... of go hard or go home!! Hayley Cox and Hannah Luffman had beautiful rounds in the very testing Junior classes on both Saturday and Sunday. Hayley is never long out of the placings and is bringing along a couple of lovely horses....back on the podium next year!! Hannah’s clear in the Junior 1.20-1.25 AM5 on APH Solace was very much celebrated and was a testament to our in house coach Jennifer Wood’s calm and considered warm up plan. Gabrielle Mills has a great few days away and is developing a seriously good partnership with her new horse ...big plans for 2021. Andrew Poole and young Minna also headed to the big smoke and left with blue ribbon. Minna heads away to school next year but will get back to as many DESA days as she can.. 08.01.2022 DESA Club members had a lovely morning of training over rising rounds courses.... all over and done with before it got too hot to be enjoyable. Our watering system was at its best with not a breath of wind to interfere with its output. The normal course builders were at it again...but this time they accidentally got under the spray to keep cool. Happy birthday to club member Amelia Empringham.

07.01.2022 Due to a date clash we have moved the Matt Ryan clinic to the 15th and 16th of August. The weather should be slightly warmer by then so it will be much nicer!! 02.01.2022 DESA days just seem to get better and better. Who would have thought that after all that rain, the footing on the DESA arena was just about perfect. The Drought ponies didnt quite know what to make of the puddles laying around ...except to jump bigger so they didnt have to touch them! The Boree Equestrian team entertained us with some fantastic jumping over rather large fences....such a group of talented young riders, developing under the guidance of Jen Wood.....and she doesnt just tell them how....she shows them!

01.01.2022 A special presentation was made at last nights DESA AGM. Life Membership was given to Michael Edwards and Stephen Edwards for their contribution to the running and success of DESA since the club’s conception over 40 years ago. Whilst Steve couldn’t be lured to the AGM ...even by the thought of a pub meal ... Michael was there to accept and to tell a few stories about the founding president Max Mawbey. It seems trips to various competitions with Max was a death defying experience. Kate accepted on Steve’s behalf. CONGRATULATIONS and thank you Michael and Steve.
