18.01.2022 PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT BATHURST NSW Health is tonight calling on anyone who attended the Bathurst 1000 motor race on the weekend as well as residents of Bathurst... with any symptoms that could signal COVID-19 to get tested as soon as possible after remnants of the COVID-19 virus were detected in raw sewage in the area today. The sample comprises wastewater from over the past weekend, and could indicate current or a previous infection in someone who attended or worked at the Bathurst 1000 motor race, a visitor to Bathurst, or even a local resident. Visitors to and residents of Bathurst must be aware of any symptoms of illness, and immediately isolate and get tested should even the mildest of symptoms appear that you think might just be a cold. Symptoms like a runny nose or scratchy throat, cough, tiredness, fever or other symptoms could be COVID-19. After testing, you must remain in isolation until a negative result is received. NSW Health is urgently undertaking investigations, which include reviewing lists of all those known to have had the virus who attended or worked at the race. The only way to find new cases and prevent further transmission is to increase testing. There are more than 300 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW. To find your nearest clinic visit https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics or contact your GP. Sewage testing for molecular markers of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, started in July, adding another tool in the fight against the global pandemic. There is no evidence COVID-19 is transmitted via wastewater systems.

18.01.2022 Now that the weekend is over and we are all packed up and heading home I have finally had a chance to reflect on the enormity of the weekend. I have now comple...ted one of my life long dreams and have raced in the Bathurst 1000 with supercar drivers that I have followed for years. Got to start the race from P24, we were maintaining a time and keeping on the lead lap and were running steadily in the back end of the top 15. Unfortunately on lap 103 in the co driver stint the car made contact with the wall and sustained a large amount of damage. The GRM team worked continually for 1 1/2 hours to get me back on the track with 0.8 of a lap left to classify. It was an amazing effort by the team. I got to cross the line for the chequered flag and we were classified P19. Massive thanks to Garry & Barry for giving me this opportunity. To the whole Garry Rogers Motorsport crew thank you so much for such an awesome weekend. Thanks also go out to Nathan Herne Racing & Shane Burcher for assisting the team. Grateful to all of my sponsors who supported me throughout this difficult year and made this happen. The raffle has be run and won. Winners will be up on my Facebook page this afternoon.

06.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE - KNSW CLUBS ON THE RISE! Our Focus continues to be on developing grass-roots karting and supporting our local clubs says Chair of KNSW - Ilona A...lsters. Karting, like any other sport flourishes due to the time, efforts and dedication provided by clubs full of volunteers. They are not there to run a business, to make their fortune or to pocket huge salaries. They are there as volunteers to contribute to society, to give up their time and to give back to their karting communities. They foster relationships and nurture karting talent in all of its forms. Our volunteers have also been subjected to the additional challenges of coronavirus and all of the additional requirements, regulations and steps to ensure karting events can continue to run and to ensure the safety of our karting community. At all times they have stepped up to the challenge! We are very proud of our volunteers! In their most recent MyKarting Newsletter - August edition, KNSW chair stated KNSW held thirteen (13) club day race meetings, issued 132 licences and processed over 864 race entries - all in the month of August. September has also been a huge racing month - taking into consideration a number of rescheduled events due to coronavirus requirements. In October 2020, KNSW will host its ACT State Titles - which already has 149 entries. Further, KNSW will host its NSW State Titles in November, on the newly resurfaced Port Macquarie Kart Racing Club track. Entries for both signature events are OPEN! KNSW continues to work with its volunteer clubs, accessing funding through local, state and federal government grants. These grants have been instrumental in being able to upgrade facilities and safety requirements for our clubs. KNSW is also extremely proud of its very practical Covid-19 QR-Code System that has been nominated for the Play by the Rules Award 2020. A simple system developed and implemented by our volunteers that has helped clubs navigate through the pandemic crisis. It continues to be utilised today - so simple and makes Covid compliance easy for our clubs! In addition, KNSW’s - Race Like a Girl initiative has been embraced by the karting community - promoting inclusion and generating passion and in turn further participation in our sport. The focus is very clear of KNSW and it’s Clubs - To have more people karting more often! KNSW will shortly release details of its upcoming Annual General Meeting - where all KNSW members are invited and welcome to attend.

05.01.2022 Get those Entries in Karters and be apart of of the Stowe KNSW State Titles.
