Once an implant has integrated into the jaw, a crown can be placed over the top. This process can take weeks to months. Implants and their crowns appear to be growing out of the gum so they closely mimic a natural tooth. They dont impact adjacent teeth as they can be placed without having to cut into these teeth as is ...required for a bridge. Unlike a denture, implants are fixed in the mouth and cannot be removed. 20.01.2022 We know that tooth pain can be intense. It can disturb your sleep, radiate to the side of your face or make it hard to eat. You might not even have pain in your affected tooth it may present as a headache, earache or radiate to other teeth. It is very important to act on these messages as ignoring them can mean the infection can spread and cause more serious and even life-threatening problems. Resolution of such messages can mean that the tooth requires Root Canal Treatment.... Stay tuned next week for more details on what actually happens with a root canal.

20.01.2022 Root Canal Treatment (also known as Endodontic Treatment) is used to save a tooth that has been very badly damaged due to decay, trauma or injury. It is usually a procedure that spans over two or three appointments and involves removing the infected pulp (nerve) tissue from inside the tooth and shaping the pulp chamber. We place a medicine inside the pulp chamber to allow for the infection to resolve. Rest assured you will be numb and comfortable during this procedure! We wil...l reassess the tooth to determine if the infection has resolved. If it has, the pulp chamber can be filled up to prevent re-infection. After Root Canal Treatment has been completed, a crown is generally recommended to be placed over the tooth. This is to ensure that the Root Canal Treated tooth is embraced and structurally reinforced.

08.01.2022 Now you know the difference between crowns, bridges and veneers, youre probably wondering how long they take to complete. Youll need two appointments. In the first 60-90 minute session, well prepare the tooth and take an impression to have the crown custom made. Youll have a temporary resin restoration in place while your crown is being made. Well remove the crown in the second appointment well remove the temporary crown and cement the permanent one in place. This will ...generally take around 30 minutes. The new Crown, Bridge or Veneer will not only improve the aesthetics and function of the tooth, it will also preserve the natural bite and prevent drifting and over-eruption of adjacent teeth. The crown will increase the longevity of the tooth. With regular dental maintenance and excellent oral hygiene, they can last many years.

07.01.2022 Ever wondered what the difference is between crowns and veneers? A crown is more like a helmet going around the whole tooth, while a veneer covers the front part of the tooth. Veneers are used to improve the aesthetics of poorly shaped, broken and discoloured teeth, and they can also be used to close gaps between teeth. If you have a missing tooth, you could replace it with a bridge a crown on either side of the gap, and a bridge tooth in the middle. Bridges are different to dentures as they are cemented and fixed in place and cannot be removed or dislodged when eating like a denture.
