20.01.2022 IMPORTANT Two children killed after being struck by a vehicle near Dubbo (Police Media Tuesday, 05 January 2021 06:33:18 PM) Two children have died, and a further three pedestrians have been injured after being struck by a vehicle in the state’s Central West this afternoon.... About 4.30pm (Tuesday 5 January 2021), emergency services were called to Warne Street, Wellington, south of Dubbo, following reports five pedestrians had been struck by a car. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated an adult and four children at the scene, however, two of the children later died. The adult and two other children are being transferred to hospital one in a serious condition. Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District have established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit, who are en-route. Police have been told the driver of the vehicle left the scene prior to their arrival. Inquiries are continuing and anyone who may have information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers. #dubbophotonews

Teen CHARGED after 92-year-old woman allegedly robbed in her DUBBO home A youth has been charged following an investigation into an alleged aggravated break-in at a home in DUBBO last month.... About 1.15pm (Monday 3 August 2020), a 92-year-old woman was on the front veranda of her home on Crown Street, Dubbo, when she heard a noise coming from inside. Police will allege she was confronted by a male who threatened her with a knife, demanding cash. He left the scene allegedly taking the woman’s debit card and a small amount of loose change. Following inquiries, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District arrested a 16-year-old boy at a home in Wellington on Thursday (24 September 2020). He was taken to Wellington Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-armed, and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime. The youth was formerly refused bail at a Children’s Court on last Friday (25 September 2020) and will reappear at a children’s court on Monday 12 October 2020. #dubbophotonews

Jimmy Little Walgett Water Tower The portrait of Jimmy Little is by Artist Jenny McCracken, based on a photo by John Elliott and the indigenous details reflecting Jimmy's heritage are by local Walgett Artist Frank Wright.... Jenny was also the Artist that painted the Gulargambone Kingfisher mural (released on a stamp this year) and the Gunnedah Museum Anzac memorial mural. The case is a man from western Sydney who was infected at the Berala BWS on Christmas Eve before travelling to Broken Hill, Orange and Nyngan while unknowingly infectious.... He was identified as a close contact and asked by NSW Health to be tested. This case will be reported in tomorrow’s figures. In an announcement made this afternoon Carl’s Jnr said it intends on opening the doors to its first western regional NSW store, in early 2021. ... The new store to be located on the corner of Cobra and Hawthorn Streets, Dubbo. The new store is expected to employ approximately 60 locals, with recruitment for staff to begin in early 2021.
