25.01.2022 Giving your dog a lightweight summer haircut can help prevent overheating, but never shave to the skin, your dog needs at least one inch of hair to to avoid getting sunburnt. Some breeds have double coats that provide insolation from the heat so make sure you get advice from a groomer before giving your dog a clip! Double coats consist of a top layer and bottom layer referred to as the "undercoat". The undercoat consists of a denser set of hairs that are designed to provide insulation for both winter and summer months.

12.01.2022 Does my pet need senior food? Seniors and geriatrics generally need lower-calorie diets to help prevent obesity and higher-fiber diets to improve gastrointestinal health. Dogs and Cats energy requirements get lower as they age and they have a slower metabolic rate. If they remain eating the same amount and type of food as their younger self they are more likely to become overweight or obese which in turn can lead to other health issues. The decision on what to feed and whether to change to a senior diet should be based on many factors your Fur Life Vet can help make recommendations based on your pet's health status, disease risk, and lifestyle.
