25.01.2022 ‘63 Panel Van with the Rod Penrose Racing 2276cc chugging along like a cranky old man It will be a fun road test shakedown

25.01.2022 Another week that was @ Dubsmith Garage ‘57 11 Window/Chassis build - Drivers cab door rebuilt and swung to the body and near perfect! Rear corners welded off to perfection and gapped to the rear hatch and engine lid. Engine lid hinge carrier welded off. Rear hatch lower beltline outer skin fabricated and TIG welded off to perfection! Gaps on this thing are stunning!!! ‘60 Single Cab - All structural issues now resolved and moving forward with our standard of works now. Top...-hats and I-Beams where they want to be. Lower separation panel TIG welded off after removing developing rust. Inner sills setup. Drivers B pillar in place and our base foundation points all re-established. Big works to get to this milestone but all worth it to build now with our correct techniques and processes. ‘67 11 Window - Body prep nearing completion. Shortside in final polyester coating to block down flat. Roof in 2K primer and inside being ticked off for areas being left untrimmed so needing to be flawless. ‘65 Panel Van - All running gear now removed and ready to start building out in-house. Narrowed front beam with disc brakes, fresh engine, IRS install and lowered altitude all in order. ‘55 11 Window - The tricky part of patina matching now underway. Roof coated in 2 layers of red-oxide. Top coated with 3 layers of L31 Dove Blue. Now to start rubbing to create some patina finish. Arrowed areas are the colours we’ve laid down so pretty happy to achieve a very close colour mix.

24.01.2022 Main brake line and vacuum line installed into the ‘67 11 Window Microbus

24.01.2022 The big week that was @ Dubsmith Garage ‘57 11 Window/Chassis - Major build underway to marry chassis we built back in May and body back together! 1st if it’s kind in Australia??? All pillars now reconnected with the sub-floor and chassis end rendering it structurally correct and sound again. All diagonal measurements within 1-2mm of each other Better than factory A,B,C,D pillars ticked off. Separation panel next on the list to add further structural strength before bei...ng un-jigged. Passenger cab door rebuilt and skinned to perfection. Some minor tweaks to gap it perfect to the B pillar. Big metal arriving daily to have this old girl panelled up before heading off to be painted ‘60 Single Cab - All major chassis repairs resolved correctly. 6 fish plates all up to strengthen previous repair works as these were missing when chassis joins were done and are vital!!!! Major problem now sorted. Now that the base foundation is correct, big metal works can be kicked along with! ‘55 11 Window - Underside mechanical parts all prepped for paint coating Any original item cleaned and prepped, any new item prepped also. Rear hubs rebuilt, bearings pressed in place. ‘65 Panel Van - Japanese ‘65 Panel Van up from Victoria for a full mechanicals upgrade! Narrowed beam, disc brake front, fresh engine, IRS install and altitude correction Front safaris installed to let the summer air in through the hair and bugs into the eyes and mouth Rear Safari to go in also for a little extra something. ‘67 11 Window - Drivers side blocked down to a super flat finish and polyesters for the final time to iron-out the last minor imperfections. Home stretch of body prep to come before 2K primer gets laid down. Body has to be PERFECT to allow the bottom colour to be a show stopper ‘72 Dubsmith Garage Panel Van - 3 Narrowed ball joint beam built and fitting perfect in-situ underneath the van. Slowly ticking off jobs

21.01.2022 The week that was @ Dubsmith Garage ‘63 Panel Van - Giving it the mechanical once over to establish ride heights, shock absorber lengths, gear selection and all those things that matter Retro Sound stereo unit powered up. Off to CDY Motor Trimming next week for a full trim out This beauty will be back mid-October for the home stretch and road testing fun! ‘55 11 Window - Underside coated, engine bay coloured in 2K matte L31 Dove Blue. Super clean and crisp finish Tim...e to get this old girl rolling with a full IRS install and our narrowed beam setup. Super flat finish for minimal paint prep works Passenger side front edge rear wheel tub TIG welded in place to perfection. Horizontal firewall panel removed and replaced with the perfect Klassic Fab one Amazing fit and a very crucial piece of the puzzle. Drivers side B pillar welded off. Longside vertical pillar supports welded off. Off to be fully blasted @ Imperial Blasting then the next stage of works to kick on with. ‘60 Single Cab - Major rectification works being ticked off with some big concerns being sorted. Cab wheel tubs replaced, rear taillights filled in and file finished. Single stop/tail to go in with some neat fabricating for the indicators to be recessed into the bumpers. Battery trays replaced and welded in correctly. Bottom floor being removed as it is just not right and chassis I-Beams not correct either. Should be 2mm sheet metal, instead 0.9mm sheet metal fabricated. Shouldn’t be able to twist these cross members Longside being replaced and effectively starting from near scratch to have this thing correct and spotless. Plenty of previous repairs with rust already forming. Our use of the U-Pol Copper Weld Thru is a daily usage and a must! ‘67 11 Window - Roof blocking for primer nearing completion. Owners often ask why the roof is replaced as opposed to repaired. The only body filler on the roof is the 100mm tall areas in the pics and that’s it We prefer metal over body filler so this justifies the reasoning and the result is amazing. Final coat of polyester and ready to final block for 2K primer. Longside commenced and already looking awesome!
