17.01.2022 These are interesting times, these are challenging times, these are crazy times. These are phrases that we have all heard many times over the passed few weeks. One thing that is clear, is that these are new times: new times with new ways of being. Whats good though is that we (the world) are faced with a common adversary that can unite us all (wouldnt that be great). The first draft of this letter (days ago) is already obsolete. Things are changing fast. This is where we ...are at now. We are focusing on what is important to us, and what we believe is important to you - our community. Our wish is to remain here as a team, and as part of the community that we have loved and served for the past 15 years. We have explored, and are exploring many options to do this. While we have loved our store on Brunswick Street, right now it seems a little irrelevant and not important, and if we keep it going, we may not keep going. So we will close it (Saturday 28 March will be its last day) and reopen our warehouse/shop on Thursday 2 April. Our warehouse is lovely, and located just a hundred metres back from the shop. Its rumoured to have been built by (or at least overseen by) Walter Burley Griffin. Before we opened on Brunswick St, customers would come, and stay (sometimes for hours), and chat, try on shoes, buy or not, it didnt matter. This was a very rewarding, and important, experience for us all. In order to reopen the warehouse, we need to create some space, so we will be clearing some items. We encourage you to check the website regarding what will be cleared. We will remain open online throughout. In the interests of health and safety we have put in place a rigorous cleaning regime, as well as social distancing, in line with current Australian Government advice. Sending (virtual) hugs. 15.01.2022 Thank you so much @fab_confab As I celebrate HAPPY 5 YEARS for me and these boots, I realise my definition of "expensive" has changed . Expensive used to only mean that single high cost upfront... . I looked for low cost items for a bunch of reasons, ranging from simply not being able to afford to pay more, to feeling like I was getting value by spending less . (and it also meant I could buy more things, quickly, without needing to patiently wait and save) . however, it often left me with things that didnt last for very long, or that I didnt enjoy using . Although it isnt always practical, here is an example of a #buyWellBuyOnce win: . Brand new, these boots cost me $350 AUD in April 2015 . so, $70 per year . Great, but being able to keep something for a long time doesnt necessarily mean it is useful, though, so lets look at usage . Only counting documented wears since I started this account in 2017 (see #fc_blackFaborgBoots for our adventures together ) . I have worn them at least 100 times as of today! . so, $3.50 per wear, and dropping... . Some other bonuses: . they only get MORE comfortable with time . they can be re-soled to extend their life . product longevity is a form of sustainability . I encourage you to invest in your very frequently used items, if you can! In the words of Vivienne Westwood, "Buy less, choose well, make it last!" See more
