20.01.2022 Morning all Warrnambool students, DUCLS has an exciting opportunity for one Warrnambool Law student to compete against the other campuses in Oral Paper Presentation in Melbourne! Paper and Oral is an individual competition open to any Law student at Deakin University. There are two components to this competition, involving the submission of an essay followed by a Power Point spoken presentation.... PAPER: Students are invited to submit an essay they have used in a previously completed law subject. If your essay demonstrates sound written ability and well-argued legal issues, you may be selected to compete in the Final, where you will be required to present the oral component of this competition. ORAL: This aspect of the competition requires competitors to present a Power Point presentation based on what they have argued in their essay. The presentation should examine the core legal issues at play and demonstrate strong public speaking skills. Competitors will have approximately 10-15 minutes to present their essay in oral form. This is an unparalleled opportunity and the lucky finalist who goes through will present a paper at one of Melbournes leading law firms Maddocks! Submissions will close Sunday night at 6 oclock and should all be forwarded to [email protected] upon sending your email you will receive confirmation your submission has been excepted.

16.01.2022 This week is ALSA (Australian Law Students Association) Wellbeing week. The rate of mental health issues faced by law students is alarming. It is especially true during this time of year, and it is easy to get lost in a maze of closed doors and thoughts of failure. Trapped in ones own room, studying hard while lamenting: that assignment mark that just wasnt what you thought it would be, that exam you wish youd actually studied for, that job you really wanted but missed o...ut on or youre just having a shit day. There are a lot of things in life that can get us down and if we bottle all these things up it can literally become a deadly cocktail of self destruction and depression. Talk to someone! Its not easy, sometimes its the hardest thing one can do, to sit down and say to someone Hey - things are really shit right now and Im not OK, but DO IT. There are always people around, normally a lot more than youd think. Its not easy, but nothing is more important than feeling 10/10. Talk to someone if you not feeling 10/10. DUCLS is always keen to sit down and have a chat. Or call: 13 11 14 the Lifeline Helpline. Beyondblue 1300 224 636 Finally, a visual reminder of how easy it is to pop on the Im Fine mask. DUCLS <3
