23.01.2022 Duke Street Community House is pleased to launch the Bronwen Merrigan scholarship to support young women living, working or studying in the Brimbank and Maribyrnong communities reach their Early Childhood or Community Services educational and career goals. Bronwen Merrigan was a well-known and respected leader in our community, whose dedication to creating pathways to Early Years and Adult Learning programs, helped hundreds of people, particularly those from vulnerable, disad...vantaged and diverse backgrounds. Bronwen was a passionate advocate for accessible, quality education for all and this scholarship has been created to honour her and her lifelong commitment to helping people in our community. Bronwen was the Manager of Duke Street Community house for 20 years from 1995 2015 and sadly passed away in 2019 after a heroic fight against cancer. The Bronwen Merrigan Scholarship comprises a $3,000 grant and mentoring program to give young women assistance to pay for things like course fees, computers, and tools and equipment. The recipient will also be matched with a mentor in their field of study who will support them, share knowledge and provide guidance as they enter the Early Learning or Community Services professions. Applications must be submitted by 31 December 2020 and more information is available by e-mailing [email protected] or phoning (03) 9311 9973.

02.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK 2020 | Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botani...sts, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Learn more or find an event near you at: www.naidoc.org.au #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOC See more
