20.01.2022 Let's talk about stress because nobody does! Stress occurs when there is an imbalance between the resources available to us at the time and what is being dema...nded of us. Without a doubt, stress can have an impact on our overall health. We need to open the conversation about how stress can impact our daily lives and what we can do to help and support each other. If you ever experience significant signs of stress, here are some suggestions that might help: Reach out to a friend or family member Speak to a psychologist to help manage your stress Engage in physical exercise on a regular basis Maintain a healthy diet (reducing added sugars is recommended!) Try relaxation and breathing techniques Utilise online support resources (see below) For more information on stress management resources: Beyond Blue: https://bit.ly/2JpaPbv Better Health: https://bit.ly/2Jb0EIV CCI: https://bit.ly/2GuQGky If you want to know more about engaging in a mental health conversation, we offer our First Aid for Mental Health course. You can read more about it here: https://bit.ly/2E62F7c

17.01.2022 Happy Valentines Day! Do you know where Wagin's Defibs are located? Check out the St John Ambulance First responder app for more details... we have 12 around town.

16.01.2022 Stay safe this Easter please, we don’t want to see you. Our ambo uniform is ready, however we would prefer not to wear it.

14.01.2022 A nice reminder that everyone is dealing with something difficult that we don’t know about. Be kind. Reach out. Ask the question.

13.01.2022 Did you know there are several public defibrillators located in both Dumbleyung and Kukerin? We your hearts!

13.01.2022 You’ve heard us say We need more defibs in the community! a lot lately, and the truth is, we really do! Did you know that eligible small businesses can take... advantage of the Federal Government instant asset write-off to purchase our Restart a Heart Day defib bundles? An instant asset write-off allows small businesses (with an annual turnover of less than $10 million) to claim immediate deductions (up to a limited amount) for new or second-hand plant and equipment asset purchases. The assets must first be used, or installed for use, in the income year you’re claiming for. There are over 4,000 registered defibrillators in the community, which sounds like a lot. When you look at how vast WA is however, that number suddenly feels much smaller. We’d like to see more installed around WA and this is one way you can help. Find a defib that's right for your business here: stjohnwa.com.au/defibsmatter#bundle Ensure you speak with your accountant or qualified tax professional to see if you’re eligible for the instant asset write-off. 07.01.2022 It's National Volunteer Week and we want to acknowledge and thank the 9,105 St John volunteers who have contributed 4 million hours of service to the WA communi...ty last year. St John CEO, Michelle Fyfe has a message for all of our incredible metro and regional volunteers. 07.01.2022 Great news! Thank you to the Katanning Leisure & Function Centre KLC for asking us to install a second defibrillator at their site, this one outside on the wall... of the Ram Pavillion overlooking the Quartermaine Oval so that it will be available for anyone to use even if the Rec Centre is closed if you need to use it, to gain access simply ring 000 and they will give you the code to open the box whilst giving you CPR instructions if you need them! No training needed to use a defibrillator - it talks you through all the steps by itself!! See more

07.01.2022 Derek and Nathan show us how to follow the St John DRSABCD Action Plan for when you need to help someone in a medical emergency. Always remember to call Triple Zero (000) in the event of an emergency situation.

07.01.2022 As part of our standard procedure during COVID-19, and to ensure our patients receive the best and most appropriate prehospital care, our Crews will be asking a...ll patients if they have any flu like symptoms. This is to protect our amazing Volunteers and our Community of the Wheatbelt against the spread of any potentially infectious illness including COVID-19. When calling for an Ambulance, you will be asked by the 000 call taker if you have flu like symptoms. When our crews arrive, they will ask you the same questions. Please don’t be scared to answer truthfully, even if you think you just have a mild cold. We have strict hygiene measures in place to keep you and our crews safe. Our goal is to help our community stay safe and stop the spread - but we can’t do that without our resilient and fantastic Community behind us. Stay safe! The St John Team - Wheatbelt

07.01.2022 Free history lesson..... you’re welcome!

06.01.2022 *UPDATE* if you are considering doing a first aid course we encourage you to do so at the upcoming one. We are light on numbers and don't want to cancel this important course for our community. So we urge anyone thinking about to to jump on board as soon as possible. Just a reminder about the upcoming First Aid course on the 16th March. See the flyer for registration details. It would be great if anyone interested can register as soon as possible so that we can ensure we have enough numbers to go ahead.
