12.01.2022 Achilles tendinopathy: insertional or mid-portion? In this interesting blogpost, Tom Goon talks about the difference between insertional and mid-portion achille...s tendinopathy, the phases in rehabilitation and when to return to sport. Here the blogpost: http://www.running-physio.com/insertional-achilles-tendino/ Quote from the blogpost: "A key difference is that compression is considered a key factor in insertional tendinopathy. In the achilles this occurs at end of range dorsiflexion (the upward movement of the ankle). Mid-portion achilles tendinopathy is primarily thought of as a tensile loading problem, rather than compressive, although the plantaris muscle has been considered as a potential source of compression." Here part 2 with differential diagnosis: http://www.running-physio.com/insertional-achilles-2/ One more interesting blogpost about the importance of staging and role of compression: http://www.running-physio.com/tendon-staging/ Photo from: http://www.podiatrytoday.com/current-and-emerging-conservat #running #tendinopathy
