25.01.2022 Thank you to all our families who attended our welcome night on Friday. It was so lovely to see new and old families having a chat with each other and our educators. We hope you all had wonderful time!

25.01.2022 To celebrate the Italian festival of tomatoes from a couple of our Bindi Bindi childrens cultures we made tomato passata sauce. We added tomatoes, garlic(was donated by Kada grower), onions and basil (from our edible garden) and roasted it together before we put it through a sieve to remove the seed and skin. All the children was given a jar (the jar was donated by the Vietnamese community) to take home to eat.

25.01.2022 Have you RSVP'd to the Family Welcome Picnic? It's a great way to meet new and current families within the centre community, as well as liaise with the educators! Check out the posters on all the doors within the centre for more details. Last year went really well so we hope to see you all there!

25.01.2022 On August 19th #Lukesbees came to DELC to teach us all about bees and what they do! The children were very interested and watched as one of the children got to put on the bee keeping outfit, label parts of the hive, do a few activities and taste real honey. This was such a valuable experience and after a long time without incursions because of COVID the children relished the learning opportunity! Thanks Luke! Luke's Bees

25.01.2022 During this time we really appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation with newly introduced centre procedures. Our top priority is to ensure our educators and children are safe and healthy. The community here at DELC is still strong! Thanks everyone!

24.01.2022 This morning we went on an excursion! We took the children in our big prams for a picnic lunch at the soccer field next door. This was so much fun, the children were so excited they were climbing into the prams to hurry us up! Everyone cheered as we started walking. We went for a walk around the block before heading to the soccer field for lunch. On the way we saw a big tractor! Once we got to the soccer field everyone got out and ran. We brought some balls for the children t...o play with. We practiced our kicking and throwing skills. We then sat down for our delicious picnic lunch, everyone sat so nicely and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine. Overall our excursion was a wonderful success!p

24.01.2022 Today we celebrated Holi! This is a tradition DELC does every year and the children always love using the powdered paint to get all messy and colourful. Its always a great time to get their teachers back! Holi is known as the festival of colours in the Hindi culture and is one we enjoy doing year by year to celebrate the cultures within the centre.

24.01.2022 On Friday the 20th November, the Djidi Djidi room hosted our grandparents for an afternoon tea. We wanted to celebrate our grandparents for all that they do for us. Our grandparents joined us for a picnic afternoon tea and a play outside. It was wonderful to see such a great turn out and we hope all the grandparents enjoyed seeing our wonderful centre!

23.01.2022 As part of Carol’s project on nutrition, the Djidi Djidi children went on an excursion to the local IGA at the Marmion Village. On the way there we discussed road safety as we crossed the roads. We also saw lots of interesting things, including a local park, some birds on the grass, a man washing his car, and a Woolworths truck. When we arrived at the shop we looked at all the fruit and vegetables on display. Carol added a cucumber, carrots, capsicum, oranges, apples and wate...rmelon to a basket, holding up each item to show the children. One of the children got the opportunity to place the food on the conveyor belt and pass the money to the cashier. At afternoon tea, we discussed how we had to wash the fruit and vegetables first, to get rid of any germs. As the children watched Carol cut up our selection, handing them to the children to try, Carol was talking about the importance of eating healthy.

23.01.2022 Have you seen our edible garden located in the Bindi Bindi yard? The Bindi Bindi children has been busy growing different herbs and watering them daily. We currently have lots of herbs ready for harvest. Please help yourself to the many herbs we have grown (rosemary, thyme, oregano, parsley, chive, salt bush). If you have any fruits or vegetables in your garden and would like to share, please let the Bindi Bindi educators know. Let's help each other as a community.

Please let us know via this post, or the QIP display in the foyer ... Recent Upgrades: - New flooring - New shelving units - Outdoor space re-varnished - New rugs for each room

22.01.2022 Do you know of anyone interested in putting their child into our service @ DELC? We have 2 spots available in our Yonga (Kindergarten) 3-5 year old room on a Friday. Email the centre or give them a call to let us know!

21.01.2022 Our centre uses acknowledgement of country with the children to develop the children's understanding of the Aboriginal people and to show respect to the traditional owners of our land. https://www.abc.net.au//why-acknowledgement-of-c/11881902

21.01.2022 We love loose parts play here at DELC!

21.01.2022 As we near the end of the year, and we think about the beginning of 2021, what would you like to see upon your return? This could be to do with the room set up, program implementations or routine changes. We value your opinion and want to make the return as amazing as possible for the children and families. Let us know!

21.01.2022 It's child protection week! Now is the time where we talk to the children about safety and taking control of our own bodies. If you would like some resources or information ask your educators as we have a variety of books useful for these important discussions. If you would like to show a catchy video that we have been showing in Yonga, check out this video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lL07JOGU5o

21.01.2022 A MASSIVE thank you to one of our families who sent us this gorgeous platter today. All the educators have been so spoilt this Christmas season and we are definitely feeling the love Only three more days left until our Christmas closure from Wednesday afternoon!

21.01.2022 On the 6th of May 2020 the Yonga room had a Teddy Bear Picnic! The children were welcomed into the room by bear footprints and a little task to find 6 Teddy Bears hidden around the room. For our morning experience the children decorated biscuits, at yarning circle did parachute play with the teddies and did some songs, and finally at quiet time made themselves some headbands. When it was picnic time the children gathered on the mat with some teddy bear music for their fruit, biscuits and some hot chocolate. It was such a fun day of bear excitement to wrap up our project on bears.

20.01.2022 Perhaps this is something you all as parents are concerned about as your child transitions through the years of starting kindergarten and pre-primary. Have a read :)

20.01.2022 Please take a quick listen to Maggie Dent's new podcast about parenting during COVID-19. It gives you a bit more information as to how YOU can deal with it as parents at home and ways you can talk to your children about it. It shouldn't be all doom and gloom, maybe we can take this as an opportunity to spend quality time with the children around us and develop their understanding of the world. Here at DELC we understand the stresses you must all be facing, both financially, socially and physically. We are here for you. https://www.abc.net.au//how-to-talk-to-kids-abou/12081182

20.01.2022 Stuck on things to do at home that challenges your child's fine motor skills? Here are some ideas below :)

19.01.2022 Physical Environment

19.01.2022 We're nearing the end of the year at DELC, so here's a reminder of our closure dates!

19.01.2022 Today 6 Yonga children and 4 Djidi Djidi children visited Trinity Retirement Village on our first excursion there for the year. This is a once a month experience that DELC does and we love to see how the residents react with the children, especially having some babies around! Today some of the children did colouring in for the residents. We also sang some songs; twinkle twinkle, old macdonald and baa baa black sheep. It was a great visit and we can't wait to see them next month. 18.01.2022 On Wednesday the 24th of June the Yonga room walked onto our oval and engaged in several games that challenged their fundamental movement skills. These games included the warm up, sack race, bean bag throw, running race, tug of war and hoop jumping course. The children absolutely loved winning medals and learning that not everyone's a winner. Such a fun day!

16.01.2022 The educators were inspired today

16.01.2022 DELC are now proud to offer a Pre-Kindergarten program as part of our ongoing education of children in our 3-5 year old Yonga room. The increase for Kindergarten readiness has grown over the last few years and the centre has been adapting to meet those needs. After the last couple of years of trial and error engaging the children in a meaningful curriculum and developing their school readiness, the centre has created what we think is a highly developed, encouraging, and well ...thought out program. If you have any questions about this program direct them to our Early Childhood Teacher Bethany through our Yonga email [email protected] Thank you!

16.01.2022 DELC held a family welcome picnic for all our families with a magicial Al Kazam and face painting! It was lots of fun and was a great chance for the families to mingle and also talk with the educators outside of hours.

11.01.2022 On Tuesday, the Bindi Bindi was very lucky to attend the Toddlerfest at Sci Tech. Everyone was very excited to get on the bus and sat in their car seat while singing to our favourite songs. We saw trucks, cars and trains; it was a great experience for the children to see things from a different perspective. The children loved Sci Tech and explored the different play areas that Sci Tech has to offer.

11.01.2022 Today we celebrated Purim! The children made hamantaschens with one of the children's grandmother's and with one of our educators Janet they made traditional noise makers Some of us even got dressed up as 'something we would like to be' which was really fun to see!

08.01.2022 A big thank you to everyone who kindly donated a new children's book/s for a child in foster care! The response has been so heart warming and the The Foster Share Shed Inc - Pay it forward are very thankful for our centre's donations. 08.01.2022 YONGA GRADUATION On Friday the 4th of December the Yonga families gathered for an end of year party to celebrate finishing 2020 in our 3-5 Kindergarten room (the Yonga room). We use this time to say farewell to some families and to give the children their certificates as well as interact and eat some delicious food. Thank you for all that attended. We will miss you over the Christmas break!

07.01.2022 Hi All! Just a reminder tomorrow we are dressing up in disco dress for National Simultaneous Story time! Come in sequins, glitter, fluro, and bright colours as we listen to the story Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas. Can't wait to see you all dressed up! :)

06.01.2022 DELC is looking more into protective behaviours for the children that attend our service. DID YOU KNOW that 1 in 7 boys and 1 in 3 girls will experience some sort of sexual abuse. That's an absolutely frightening statistic! It is a hard subject to talk about, but teaching our children the strategies and ways to understand their body and their feelings is the first step in prevention. The staff have attended a PD on this through WA Child Safety Services. Check out the website for more information so you can become more knowledgeable on this important subject. https://wachildsafetyservices.com/

05.01.2022 This morning we celebrated St Patricks day with the children. Lots of children wore green. We cooked soda bread which is a tradition on this day to honour this cultural event in our community. We sang chants about St Patricks day and how this is a special holiday for people who live in Ireland. We dance to Dance Dance Leprechaun Dance! The Bindi Bindi children spread out on the mat and watching the IPad followed the actions to the song. We bowed to the left and bowed to the right, put our hands in the air and clapped our hands to the beat. The children enjoyed it so much they asked for more, so we continued with the song a couple of times. It was a great way to get their wiggles out before lunch!

05.01.2022 On Thursday the 5th of March DELC had some furry visitors! The amazing animals from West Oz Wildlife came and visited us for the day. We had a dingo, koala, lizards and snakes! The children really enjoyed giving them all a pat and finding out all about these native Australian fauna.

03.01.2022 HAPPY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR DAY! As early childhood educators we take pride in the care and passion we provide your children. We hope you feel our love every single day you drop your children off in our care.

02.01.2022 If you need some additional support in your role as a parent, check out these seminars run by Triple P. Most of these seminars are free and talk about behaviours that you may need help with when raising your children. https://www.triplep-parenting.net.au//triple-p-parenting/

02.01.2022 What an interesting way to show children how to wash their hands!

02.01.2022 Outdoor Environment for Sleep time Sleeping outdoors is something we have done in the past and has been extremely successful and gained some positive feedback from all participants! The Djidi Djidi room are keen to have this implemented on a regular basis. What are your thoughts?... Take a look at this article that discusses the benefits of resting outdoors :-) https://aussiechildcarenetwork.com.au//taking-children-s-s

02.01.2022 Are you lucky enough to be raising a baby genius? A little light-hearted article on this lovely 'Friday-eve'!

01.01.2022 Last Thursday Jackie from Surf Life Saving WA came and did a talk for the children in the Yonga room introducing them to being Beach Safe! The children learnt about the hand signals to use at the beach including the signal for help, all about the tides, to slip, slop, slap, seek and slip, tube rescuing, floating on your back and jellyfish and blue ringed octopus. The children loved getting dressed up and having a go at the tube! We also got to keep an outfit so thank you so much Jackie! #slswa #surflifesavingwa #beachsafe Surf Life Saving WA
