Hard on the heels of Dundeel's New Zealand Horse of the Year title comes the news that he also won both of last season's highest rated races in Australia and New Zealand. The 2013/14 ANZ Classifications and race ratings released on Friday by the Australian Racing Board show that both the 2013 MRC Underwood S. G1 and the 2014 ATC Queen Elizabth S. G1 achieved a figure of 120.8, ahead of the ATC Rawson S. G1 (120), ATC Tancred S. G1 (119.5), ATC Canterbury S. G1 (119) and MRC Memsie S. G1 (118.8). Race ratings are determined by the average peak rating throughout the year of the first four horses to finish in each race. Dundeel achieved a career-best figure of 122 in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, enough to earn him joint Champion status, alongside Atlantic Jewel, in the Intermediate Category. Dundeel's defeat of Atlantic Jewel in the Underwood Stakes was assessed at 120 which makes him joint Champion, alongside Sacred Falls, in the Mile Category. The ANZ Classifications are headed by the world's leading sprinter Lankan Rupee (by Redoute's Choice), awarded 123 for his victories in the VRC Newmarket H. G1 and the ATC T.J. Smith S. 13.01.2022 Rated the world's best NZ bred racehorse this year! Dundeel has been confirmed as the world's best New Zealand-bred performer this season. Six-time Group 1 winner Dundeel has been confirmed as the world's best New Zealand-bred performer this season with an international rating of 122. ... The latest LONGINES World's Best Racehorse Rankings were released on Thursday by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities - click here for the list. The 4YO son of High Chaparral and Stareel lowered the colours of previously unbeaten champion mare Atlantic Jewel in September's MRC Underwood S. G1 over 1800 metres, and returned in the Autumn to defeat Sacred Falls, Carlton House and Silent Achiever in the ATC Queen Elizabeth S. G1. The latter performance, in which Dundeel kicked clear off a punishing pace, ranks him second only to northern hemisphere 4YO Magician among the world's best entires over 2000 metres on turf. Magician split two outstanding mares, The Fugue and Treve in last month's Royal Ascot Prince of Wales's S. G1 to earn a figure of 123. In Australia and New Zealand, only the world's top-rated sprinter Lankan Rupee (123), bred and raced in Australia by Teeley Assets, ranks above Dundeel, who joins Lankan Rupee's champion sire Redoute's Choice on the Arrowfield Stud roster this Spring. Dundeel retires with 10 wins, five placings and $5.3 million prizemoney from 19 starts at 2, 3 and four. Sacred Falls is the only other Australasian performer to make the leading group of horses on the published world rankings with a figure of 120. He won the 1600-metre ATC Doncaster H. G1 for the second time this season, but has been rated on his Queen Elizabeth second behind Dundeel, in the Intermediate category (1900m-2100m). Dundeel was bred in New Zealand by Hawke's Bay couple Murray & Jo Andersen who raced him with Arrowfield, Tracy Andersen, Gavin Chaplow, Sharyn & Mike Craig, Tony & Wendy Craig, David & Jenny Morison, Tony Muollo & Dino Focas. He was prepared for that partnership by leading New Zealand trainers Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman, and ridden in all but one of his 19 career starts by the brilliant young Kiwi jockey James McDonald.

12.01.2022 Six-time Group One winner Dundeel (NZ) will be presented to Australian breeders for the first time at the 2014 August Stallion Open House from the 21st-24th Aug...ust. The nine stallions on Arrowfield's 2014 roster, headed by 2013/14 Champion Australian General Sire Premiership quinella Redoute's Choice and his extremely popular son Snitzel, will be available for inspection over four days. RSVPs are desired but not essential. Arrowfield will be open with both morning and afternoon sessions. There will be full parades at 9am each morning; however, the stallions will be available for inspection throughout the day for breeders and owners to inspect particular stallions in a relaxed, conversational setting. The Arrowfield team will be present to discuss any mating plans.

07.01.2022 Wow - thanks Murray & the team :) Million Dollar Mare for Dundeel Dundeel's breeder Murray Andersen and a group of his New Zealand owners that have retained shares in the six-time Group 1 winner are determined to give him the best possible opportunity to succeed at stud. ... So determined are they that Murray went to $1.1 million at Wednesday's Select Session of the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale to secure Rex Is A Star (Encosta de Lago-Sliding Cube by Rock of Gibraltar) to visit Dundeel. A 2YO city winner and in foal to Pierro, Rex Is A Star is a full sister to boom colt Rubick, winner of this season's MRC Blue Diamond Prelude G3 and widely tipped for bigger things at three. Even more significantly, Rex Is A Star is a grand-daughter of the famous mare Shantha's Choice, dam of five stakeswinners including Group 1 winners Redoute's Choice, Manhattan Rain & Platinum Scissors. The family made fresh history by providing nine of the ten million-dollar broodmares sold from the Teeley Dispersal draft presented by Arrowfield Stud, including the $2.3 million sale-topper Monsoon Wedding, the only sister of Redoute's Choice. Rex Is A Star holds particular interest as a mate for Dundeel because Encosta de Lago, through his sire Fairy King, brings in a third line of Special, grand-dam of Sadler's Wells (sire of High Chaparral) and dam of Nureyev (damsire of Zabeel). The presence of Danehill in the third remove of Rex Is A Star's pedigree is also appealing, given his proven affinity for both Sadler's Wells and Zabeel. Rex Is A Star is the third mare for Dundeel purchased by Waimarama NZ Ltd, established by Murray & Jo Andersen and their fellow Hawke's Bay-based shareholders Mike & Sharyn Craig, Jenny & David Morison, Tracy Andersen & Gavin Chaplow. Earlier purchases are the Irish-bred Michikabu (by Grand Lodge) and Al Samoud (by Desert Prince), dam of the promising 3YO Zabeel filly Katie's Cove. Murray says, "We're very pleased to buy Rex Is A Star from such a sought-after family and we look forward to both selling and racing first-crop progeny by Dundeel." Also destined to visit Dundeel is dual Group 3 winner Sharnee Rose (Nadeem-Farasha by Jeune), purchased by Arrowfield Stud today for $575,000 from the Yarraman Park Stud consignment. From the Easy Date family of leading young sire Not A Single Doubt, Sharnee Rose was also third in the 2011 MRC The Thousand Guineas G1 won by Atlantic Jewel, whose only defeat was inflicted by Dundeel in last Spring's MRC Underwood S. G1. Dundeel, the highest-rated entire in Australasia this season, stands his first season at Arrowfield in 2014 at a fee of $27,500 inc. GST.
